He went to college for classical guitar. You'd never believe this guy and I would be learning Judas Priest and Iron Maiden tunes 25 years ago!

I am a big fan of Stephane Grappelli and he started the band with which Reinhardt played guitar before WW II , Quintette du Hot club of Paris. That is how I first heard him.

these were like rock stars in Paris, playing music all night, hot babes, booze, etc.
it could be just folklore, but I've read that they could literally hear the german guns approaching paris when they were playing in the clubs and before they took off.
