WHO...US based..US tech support. I've had it with these frickin clowns from Russia or Ukraine or India or any other place than here.

Looking for someone with good tech support and service anyone know? I don't care if it's .05 cheaper than someone else I just want it to work and not be on a frickin server with 7,000 other people.

Mike - he doesn't want his house windows cleaned

Why, why, why does it need to be Windows?

Liquidweb - fantastic people, located in Chicago, probably more than you want to spend for Windows Hosting.

Any idea what language/software is running? That'll help narrow down the list.
I've worked w/ http://www.connectria.com and http://prominic.net but mostly for Lotus Domino hosting which is what I usually work with. Unfortunately, they're not as cheap as the $20/month plans you see for some of those other hosting providers....

John I had a discussion with them this afternoon VPS setup will make me GOD on there and it sounds like their service and people are decent to work with. Better than these a$$chunks I've been butting heads with for the last 24 hours since the site has been down.

I'm probably going to hire them to move the stuff if these other guys ever get this back working again.

Negative - I ain't touching it . Windows and Frontpage ain't no place for a shopping cart (damn, I just realized "ain't" no longer gets hit by spellcheck, oooops, ramble). In all seriousness, I wouldn't use it as a matter of preference but you are already going there. I would recommend you consider a different app some time down the road. I build, support, destroy, mutilate, virtualize, organize, and pulverize Windows servers all the time but I prefer other systems for web hosting in this realm.

Just remember, if you have administrator rights, you have the necessary keys to do exactly what you are upset with your current provider for. So to keep THAT genie in the bottle, be sure to limit your changes small things and don't touch the system files....

John I'm not able to publish to the new server with the fp extensions it errors out instantly...I went into the plesk control panel and went to FP extension management and into FP admin and it asked for the password to the OLD server... and it brings up the fp stuff for the old server...how is this possible?

isn't that like a 30 dollar a min helpdesk call?

did you change the target in fp to be the new server?
And if you do a tracert for the dns name does it go to the old service or the new service for the dns name
did you clear your ip cache ?

When did you switch services? The TTL for DNS on the net can take up to a few days to propagate

and is the banana oil level where it should be? You gotta pull the case and look on the side of the NIC card to see if the leds are lit up the correct level. you gotta check that every 1200 hours

LOL no the dns has not been changed yet because I was trying to publish the site to the new server before it got changed as I need to reinstall the cart too and don't want it down again after being down for over 48 hours this week.

I haven't switched anything yet I have the new vps setup but no files on it yet cuz I can't publish and the old server is still running the site...but I can't make much for changes there because it's puking at the house and only the shop is getting thru albeit with errors every 10 seconds...I think it's got something to do with there being a speed issue on the server and the speed of the two dsl lines here and there...the house is very slow compared to the shop I'm at the end of the piece of string and it's stretched

must be a broken led Bill it couldnt be low so quick

Does the new server have FP extensions on it. That's a prereq for your FP sites.

Is Liquid aware of your FP use.

I also have problem with my string to the internet getting dry and need to lubricate it. I've found that Dr. Johnson Sensilube with Prolong works best and stays the longest.

Your'e on broadband at home and Verizon at the shop?

oops, I forgot this was a family channel

I honestly cannot think of a reason this doesn't work. But I do know you've had problems in the past of different results from home and the shop.
So going through the list

Same OS
Same MS Update rev
Same FP release 2003/2002?
Same FP update rev

your'e screwed. I think we gotta call the Wolf , I love that guy

I'm keeping the copy of the site at the shop as pristine and synced on the server so any edits are going to minimal and done there as I did this morning. The biggest problem I have right now is the copy down there was 2 months old and it didn't have all the changes done on pages...including stuff listed as backordered so the site doesn't always jive with inventory right now...ugh.

For some reason here it times out connecting to the server, I get the same errors down there and more but I can keep clicking thru to publish whereas this one here I can't it just pukes.

I think what I'll do is change the dns over tomorrow or Tuesday and keep refreshing, as soon as it propagates to me then I'll do a quick publish and get the site files up on the new server then change them back and I can connect to everything via the new ip. They changed all the site domains over this afternoon to individual ip's too..

HOLY MOLY these guys know their chit. If you ever need to move a website I recommend calling them. John these guys have the new server setup and all the domains are already published except for the salty site which is going right now. He hopes to have the shopping cart stuff done tomorrow and then it's getting cut over. I'm going to hire this guy to run the server etc.

Errors up my wazoo even in safe mode. It's at the guy down the street now. I need this %$%$%$%$ like I need another hole in my head. Sites are all hosted on the new server just waiting for the cart and ssl to be setup. IX webhosting is holding my certificate stuff hostage now. I hate these people more than ever now Bill.

Good to see you are getting some traction on the server.

Sucks on the desktop. You really need a digital intervention, and a "plan"
