Is it me or does it seem slower this year?

There are fish around but I have not seen the action like in past.

Also, the temp breaks at the edge have not really developed. (at least by us) I have not seen the big huge hot water eddys that spin off and come closer .

I hope it happens soon.

yup, slow is the word unless you're wayyyyy east. the bait is around so I'm keeping faith that the fish will come in to feast soon. Hopefully Sunday after loading up on cod/haddock.

I've got a baby on the way October 7th so pretty much the fall bite is out for me. I was hoping to put a few fish in the boat in June.

I haven't even marked a tuna this year and I've made 6 tuna trips.

Same here, painfully slow out there. Might have to make the run east if this continues. May just use lighter gear and go trophy mackerel fishing instead

I think it is now officially slowwwww

This just in from the AP:

TDS (Tuna Derangement Syndrome) Pushes Adult Tuna Fishermen over the Edge

“…..Also known as “Charlie’s Kids”, these men have been placed on group suicide watch as they suffer from acute withdrawal symptoms from an addiction to Blue Fin Tuna fishing. Unusually slow tuna fishing this season is causing irrational behavior such as endlessly scouring the New England sea coast in search of the BFT (large or small), bankruptcy from excessive burning of overpriced hydrocarbons and divorce from tuna weary spouses.”

Personally, I fear for the wellbeing of my fellow TDS sufferers .

very very very slow to the south.
one lone YFT... marked a lot of bait in a few sq. miles... either they aren't there or had lockjaw. other boats (few) in the neighborhood had similar results.
long day...

Went east of Chatham yesterday morning early but only had a couple hours. Saw a few tuna busting bait 3-5 miles offshore but nothing sustained.

Out EOC Friday and guys were getting fish. Bite was on for a few hours in the morning. There was a massive fleet out there. It was a little bit of a cluster eff. We blew it and hung too far south for the good bite. Got a little north and there were hundreds of shearwaters sitting and waiting like the rest of us. Whales were going bonkers doing the tail slaps and breaching. Saw a guy in a 26' Grady CC land a real good fish. Guys on the radio seemed to be landing fish in the 60' range. Saw another guy hookup, fight and release a 50ish fish solo, always impressive. I'm 0/3 this season, but this was at least encouraging to see some fish hitting bars. Bizare they havent erupted onto the SWC/PHB area with all those makerels. Was out there recently too and it was a ghost town. Happy hunting. We'll be out again this friday. Hopefully cutting friday afternoon.

I was on the SWC and the hill yesterday, lines were in at 5AM. I was on 1 of only 4 boats we saw in the whole area all day on the SWC. Saw a spotter plane fly over around 6 AM and off to the east/shore. It was a complete ghost town with no life, no whales, no boats, nothing except macks.

Shot over to Race point before we went in and within 10 min saw 2 seals on the surface with good sized fish in there jaws. Headed home empty handed once again..................

We were one of the 4 boats, did you get to see the whale show during snack tide? There was 4 stick boats hanging around waiting as well.

Where you a little north of the SWC? Looked like the whale boats found what they were looking for around slack tide up towrds middle bank, I heard them on the radio

I think Dennis was out Sunday, Skippy, we were Monday!

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

Same result, no Charlie. The whales were south of PHB on Monday. The boats there had a great show as 10-15 whales feeding in tight group right next to boat.

Our only adrenaline rush was on way back across from RP seeing breaking school of fish in the distance and running to them only to find out they were white-sided dolphins!

Dedicated myself to the shore fishing this year, got aggressive and pushed myself to some more remote/uncomfortable spots and it really paid off. Cost me two phones and a camera, but it was worth it.

I already told Skippy, no more tuna trips UNTIL several confirmed reports of rec sized fish on the SWC/PHB area.

Might be Oct, hopefully 2012, before my next trip?
