Peanuts

Now that George has got me hooked on this very addicting and frustrating fishing, Albies, I have been trying to get something that mimics the very small peanuts they are chasing. I have had all my luck so far with a 1/2 oz crippled Herring but as a tinkerer I want to make something for them. I have the thin needles I made but they seem to be eating something fatter not skinny so here is my first attempt. Crude as I made them that night after I went with George that morning. Made from SS.

Thought about it some more and now i have this one which i think looks a little more realistic. With these fishes eyes I think you have to have them look pretty much identical to what they are crashing. They all weigh about a 1/2 oz., perfect to cast from a boat but probably wouldn't be too good from shore but i fish from boat. Now i just need to get out there and try them. P.

Paul, those things are spot on. Thats great stuff man.

I am going to be rich. Thanks guys you are great for my ego. They are hollow , so to remain light, so they don't drop down out of the frenzy too fast. I will try to stick some rattles inside a few to see what happens. I have yet to try some larger ones. The larger they get the harder it is to persuade the stainless but I will try a few this off season. The worse part of making them is they get so hot so fast. Stainless is a great conductor of heat so I have burned my fingers several times. Funny as I tried something similar a few years back but gave up on it but since George got me addicted to this I revisited the idea. Still need to do some experimenting on making them but that is half the fun. My stainless thin needles and these all came from an idea i got from an earing my wife had that I was looking at. She thought i was gazing into hear eyes in an affectionate way and I was thinking fishing lure. P.
