Unhappy A tough couple of days!!!!

After a banner month of fishing so far this week was a little on the frustrating side!!!

Wednesday we did a donated charter for the Fishing Academy. It was for inner city kids to get to experience the outdoors and they also had a drug and alcohol seminar for the kids and a bar-b-que after fishing. We had 6 little ones on the boat all under the age of 12, and they were great kids, the fishing was tough as Bill and I had gone out early to try and get some bait but to no avail. So we decided to troll some deep divers and it paid off as we ended up with a handful of schoolie bass which was very educationial and exciting for the kids. We did alot of teaching thruout the day and they really seamed to enjoy all the knowledge about fishing. The kids had just as much fun going fast on the boat and hitting waves as they did catching a few fish. AHH to be a kid again!!!!

Thursdays trip was with Repeat clients Kevin Menice, and his crew, of Frank, Nick and Chris. We had this group a few weeks ago and had a banner trip fishing live mackerel with 18 fish for the day up to 48 inches and 36 lbs. But today was a different story, the macks are pretty much gone and we ended up working hard for 8 pogies in the morning. We took the baits outside the harbor up to the BG bouy to see if we could find some big bass. As soon as the 1st 2 baits went in the water they were chomped in half by big bluefish. Not wanting to go thru all the bait we worked so hard to get, we put out some CD 18 Rapala's and Mann's Deep Divers. But the fish wouldn't take the artificial, so we went with plan C. Brought the baits back inside the harbor and trolled around Long Island, Walloston Bay and Hangmans Island. We even casted artificials from the front of the boat as we were trolling but the fish just would not play. It was a long quiet day on the water.

Saturday we had a trip with Tom McClennon and his crew from the Brockton area, they were also looking for some good size bass so we tried to get some pogies early morning and it just did not happen as the fog was really thick so it was hard to see more than 15 feet off the bow to see any on the surface to be able to snag. The fog would lighten here and there but it was really thick most of the morning. We decided to troll our way out to Deer Island along Long Island and see if we could pick up a few fish on the deep divers, we didn't even get a wack. Worked out past Deer Island and still nothing, the seas were a bit rough as we wanted to head to the north shore and check it out but had to turn back as it was just too bumpy and the fog kept rolling back in thick. SO we decided to go back in after the change of tide and see if we could find some bait. Nada again, the radio was very quiet all day. So we decided to end the trip at half day instead of full day as the fish just seemed to have locked jaw. So the guys were given and option to split the day and do another half day later, they decided it will be a full day when the bite gets going again. They were great guys to have aboard.

The fishing has been really weird this week with fish acting like they are off the feed for some reason. Sometimes we do have a weird week of fishing after the mackerel leave and the fish change up there feeding habits to other bait fish, hopefully next week will get them eating well again.
