#$&*KIN' DEER!!!

Off for the maiden voyage for the new motor Sun. morning. Heading to the bait shop south on Rt. 2S around the E.G./N.K line just before dawn. I always consentrate more on the right side where creatures pop out of the small wooded areas. This skipper comes across 3 lanes at full bore right in front of me. He got launched about 10 feet in the air, over the guard rail and into a ditch. Second time for me on that stretch of road. About $1000 damage (if I'm lucky) More road kill deer in North Kingstown than any other town in RI. MoraL: Keep your head in the game, especially at dawn & dusk in that area and in fact all the way down to the shore, they're everywhere!

Catch'em up,
ThomCat

my new commute is deer country big time..im just waiting.

glad your ok too thom. i was reading a story at the laundry mat yesterday where a guy was driving home from work and attempted to avoid the deer only to role down an embankment into a ditch, paralyzed from the chest down.

lesson: commit to the impact, your chances are better than trying to swerve

Hit the deer Sunday. Stopped to check Mon. & the rear quarters were neatly detached. The one guy who was in the bait shop must have overheard me telling my buddy who was also there where it was because there's no way it could be seen from the road. Anyway, stopped again Tues. A small pile of guts and some fur was all that was left. Coyotes must have got the rest.

Catch'em up,
ThomCat
