Bomber's "Mother of Pearl"

Never owned a plug with this scheme, but I saw it on a Bomber Long A at Wal-Mart the other day and thought I'd try it.

I painted the bands by free-spinning the lure (I hung the nose via Kevlar thread from the roof of my paint booth, hung a 3 oz pyramid weight from the tail screw eye, then wound it up by spinning it; I sprayed when it unwound.)

I tried to keep the colors light but I ended up having to tone it down by fogging the sides with pearl white.

Not sure I'd include the green again.

Wow. I don't normally fish wonderbread/MOP, but I would definitely fish that plug! Well done...

This is why I shouldn't buy an airbrush... Because it won't look that good

Thanks for the compliment, but don't say that, brother. If I can use an airbrush, anyone can.

I have a lot of respect for the guys who free-hand. If I didn't spin the lure the two sides would have been off. If I didn't hang a piece of scrap wood marked at 3/4" increments next to the lure when painting, the color bands would have been (more) uneven.

Sick plug for sure....and I am going to steal your technique. Great way to get that effect. My mind is going now and may use that technique for other ideas I have in mind. Nice job.

Very nice, I like that look too. I usually hit the sides with the colors and then spray white over them till they are muted like that then just a touch of pearl white. That looks great.
