A Shame...as much as I dog out Apple....the guy was pretty amazing at keeping that company everchanging.

A great man with a great vision. This forum probably wouldn't be here as is without his inventions. Fascinating reading the original start of Apple and watching it over the years.

""Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being," Mr. Cook said in a letter to employees. "

A very interesting and iconoclastic man - counter culture hippie, who was also cut throat corporate icon. He studied yoga and meditation in India and Bangladesh for about a year and walked away believing that Thomas Edison forwarded mankind more than Buddhism, yet he still practiced Buddhism. A believer in the multi-switch approach to life. We don't have to be one thing or the other.

Interesting blend of vision and philosophy. Also dogged determination bringing Apple from the abyss to the 2nd largest company (though over valued IMO)

On several occasions early on, he literally begged and cried to people to get the money to start up. Then he would move to the next thing, as if what he did to get to the next thing never happened. At their next meeting, he could be arrogant beyond measure. He had very little in the way of pride. He would grovel if groveling got the capital.

Jobs' vision was to create the coolest products, not make the most money. He rejected the first prototypes of the IPAD and sent them back with a note, "Not cool enough."

briallant man, yes... I don't think it was any secret he was not a "nice guy"... he even screwed his partner , "the other steve" out of 3500 bucks, before they were in the famous garage. driven, at any cost, (to others) to have success.

not untypical....

as long as the scales of balance lean towards the good rather than the bad is the important thing.

?.. I have done some looking and reading.. source?

closest I have come is this:

detnews.com | Michigan History

everything else I searched shows Ford. for the most part, being a leader in improving the plight of the early auto workers..

none of the moguls of industry have been perfect. However, now that we basically have no industry, we sure could use them!
