Extreme Parenting

So I watch extreme parenting last night. There was one the child on the show that was an indigo supposedly. Has anybody heard of that? To be entirely honest I know nothing about it. It seemed to me indigo was an excuse for the mom to not discipline the child whatsoever. This kid was totally off his rocker. The mother was 10 times worse

It's just an excuse for the parents. Their kids are out of control and they don't want to discipline the kid. So the answer these days seems to be to medicate your children or claim they have "special" traits or powers.
They are in serious denial and probably need as much or more psychotherapy than the kids do. They're the ones that let the kids develop that way.
Indigo my ass!!!!! it's a color, not a personality trait.

The mom was totally bizarre. I get that as a society we tend to medicate first but this kid was being led down a road that was full of delusion

I didn't know what it was, so I googled it.

According to Wikipedia:
Indigo children, according to a pseudoscientific New Age concept, are children who are believed to possess special, unusual and sometimes supernatural traits or abilities.[4]...

I stopped after that sentence. PUH-LEASE... what a bunch of nonsense

What happened to "you're cruisin' for a bruisin'"? If I pulled that younger it would last a total of zero seconds

The bigger problem here was the fact that you were watching that show to begin with.

You should be ashamed of yourself

it's not impossible to be gifted
having some peculiar ability not commonly seen
in many other people

developing it into a definite ability tho
that's a whole other discipline

the real tragedy is how your taught as a kid
(in school) NOT to DAY DREAM
just sit up straight and PAY Attention to class!

this does nothing to foster creativity
it should be encouraged and steered into something
productive whether it be artistic or mechanical
scientific or mathematical

kids that are Autistic demonstrate unusual abilities
because a certain portion of their brain is communicating
to both hemisphere's simultaneously .....

They used to be called "Idiot Savants", like Dustin Hoffman in "Rainman".

Imagine if these people (both kids and adults) were able to keep that trait while "normalizing" (whatever that is) their other brain functions?

Now that's something I'd like to see, kind of like a real like "X-men" scenario.

It's amazing to realize that we only use about 10% of our brain power. Of course it's also quite evident that there are some (as in ANY tv show) that use far less than that!!!

I am a legend in my own mind!

No this kid was not autistic. I believe indigo is a description used in a way to indicate higher enlightenment. (The next level of evolution)

The mother was using it as an excuse to rationalize irrational behavior.
