Scary

Ran from Green Hrb to the bank this morning, pulls back on the throttle engine conks, not all that unusual, try’s to start didn’t fire up (very unusual), try’s again she runs but rough (high low) shut er down...
It felt like a fuel problem so I squeezed the bulb, it seemed softer than I would think it should have been. Fired her up and all was good again....

What a sinking feeling , 20 miles out and engine decided to scare the chit out of me...

Haven’t a clue what caused it but plan on changing all the filters soon,,, I dun no why! :-)

Any ideas.?

sea tow is cheap. My vst pump had a clogged filter that caused fuel starvation earlier this year

Same symptom when my VST failed.....sad part was, after replacing it....the new one failed, OBF.
Had it replaced again, same thing....brand new out of the box failure again. Had to contact manufacturer to prove that there was warping inside the pump. They finally gave me one from a different lot and all was good.

Good Luck...but get her fixed, no worse feeling....even with See-toe

......it finally happened, there are no more secret spots

another thing that happen fairly frequently is the check valve in the fuel tank sticks.... usually the symptom is a collapsed or flattened primer ball... I've had to do a few emergency "surgeries" on these at sea through the years...

A good run is better than a bad stand!

Hope you get it figured out Ray....I'd like dual outboards or a kicker if I was making a lot of trips 20 miles offshore.

Flattened primer means a restriction or bad check valve ( could be one in the primer as well)... that fish was on a 9" weighted sluggo.. no eels yet ( I just started trapping last night)... got a bunch more last night .. mostly 3-4lb class...bigger fish might have moved up river already on the heels of the herring..

A good run is better than a bad stand!

I had a fuel problem with flattened primer, turned out to be the fuel line. It had a clear plastic film lining on the inside that delaminated from the hose, and was collapsing on itself under suction, like trying to suck through a straw made of a plastic baggie. Cut a piece out and check it
