GLB 901M - Who has built one?

Starting a build on a blank I have been sitting on for a few years. Light spinning/bucktails/sluggos. Thinking of 7 guides, high frame single foot BYLG, 30, 25, 20, 16, 12, 10, 10 tip. Cork grip 8-in lower/2-in fore. Does this sound like a good start?

Kind of wondering what others built up on that blank.

On a 10 foot rod a 5000 shimano will cast braid superbly through a size 16M collector guide. On a 7.5 foot rod I doubt you have the length to do that, but what you really need for that first guide is height and loop shedding design not ring size. I'd suggest you consider looking at something like these newer higher version KL guides starting with a 20-16/12-10 which I think would let you build a much lighter more responsive rod that casts about as well as with bigger guides.

I had forgotten about those guides. Do you think 5 guides and a tip or 6?

Probably 6 guides or 7 plus tip, most of them near the tip section

The k frames are great guides.

If it were me, it would be someting like KL's 20, 12 and 8's to the tip, or maybe 20, 12, 7 or 8, and 6's to the tip. I like the BLDBAG's for the 6's. I have a similar build on the 961mh blank and it is my favorite rod to fish.

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.
