Why can't they put a grow room in the basement or do some insurance fraud? People have no imagination.

If you're 58, and you have been looking for someone to hire you for three years, and getting no takers....at what point does the light bulb go off? Maybe it's time to try something else? Illegal aliens come here with lint in their pockets and get their own lawn services in a shorter time.

That's why they're called 'illegals' because everything about them is illegal. It's easy enough to drop the people giving you tax docs. Getting a replacement client is easier than, say, prostituting yourself to raise plane fare to leave Brazil.

The IRS audits pizza places by raw material bought and then charges them an approximation - with fines and penalties, of course. I ran into my pizza guy at Sam's Club - he with buying a ton flour with a huge roll of cash. I guess that's how he gets around that - by keeping the reported income at a level reasonably derived from the cost of goods sold - while buying the bulk of his flour in cash at Sam's, so he can pocket the rest.

The only people really paying the correct amount of tax are wage earners, honest people, and people who have found a way to barely pay any and still be on the right side of the law.

I like the new Joe.
This country is full of opportunity for those willing to work for it. I've said this a 1000 times - i live in a nive neighborhood of working families. Since this economic downturn and all the sob stories no one has ever come by offering to move my lawn, shovel my driveway for $20 or something. If I was unemployed, I'd be collecting unemployement and going door to door. 5 lawns or driveways a day is $100 which will feed my family. Or giving us some spending moeny to catch a movie or something. Our schools are failing us, people have NO CLUE what Americans have gone through the last 200 years. we never had it so good.

Funny.

When my step-son was in high school I used to make him mow the lawn. The neighbor needed his yard mowed as well, so I told him he could use my mower and gas for free to earn the 20 bucks the neighbor would pay. It's a tiny lawn and takes about 10 minutes to do.

He's home from college so on Saturday I ask him to mow the lawns before his mom comes home from the hospital. After grumbling about it he proceeds to just mow ours and leave the neighbors looking like crap.

20 bucks for 10 minutes easy work left sitting on the table. What a dumb a$$.

I'm the same Joe as I've always been. I feel the same as Warren Buffet - democracy works best when it is within the framework of a meritocracy. Wage earners and trust fund babies should have an equal tax burden - all the way up to the top tier.

That pretty much sums up the fishing lure business these days.

Online sales makes people honest.....it's hard to hide how much you made when an income statement can be generated with three clicks.

Maybe he just hates you and everything about you, and refusing to do the other lawn is a passive-aggressive expression the rage he harbors. Fake a heart attack and see if he calls it in right away, or decides to wait.

I wish I could find someone to mow my lawn for $20. I thought I was getting a pretty good deal at $40.

It takes me 2 1/2 hours to do it myself. I don't have that much free time. Besides, I'm helping the economy by paying someone else to do it.

Nah, my guy's legit. He gives me a real invoice and makes me make the check out to the name of his landscaping company. He also plows during the winter. You don't see many Mexican snow plow drivers. Besides, he lives on my street and we don't allow any immigrants, whether they're legal or not in my neighborhood. It decreases property values.

Anyone else see the irony in this post?

The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. ~John Buchan
