SU or SW 1209? Ratings? What's the sweet spot and what did you use it for primarily? Thanks.

SU and SW are the two different blanks that Rainshadow made. They have different actions and ratings I believe. That's why I needed to know and want the ratings and what weight it throws best. Thanks.

Kev, what are you going to throw with that rod? I would think Chris had it made for jigging the canal but not sure?

Yes... I figure that too. I made my first trip to the canal last week with Chuck, CJ and Bill Couch (and his son) and Larry... well it just got me thinking. Besides I just sold a couple of rods I wasn't using so there is an empty slot in my rod rack Anyway still want more info if possible. Thanks Tynan.

From a thread on another site...
"You need to figure which blank you are talking about. The Rainshadow SU blanks handle alot more weight than the SW blanks.

The SW1208 20-30lb line weight, 1-4oz lure weight.
The SW1209 20-40lb line weight, 1-6oz lure weight.

The SU1208 15-30lb line weight, 2-5oz lure weight.
The SU1209 20-60lb line weight, 5-12oz lure weight.

These specs are per the Rainshadow Catalog."

This rod was built for jigging the canal and certainly is overqualified for the task. It is a very popular blank for doing just that. I just happen to be terrible at conventional and refuse to offer any more effort in the learning curve. This rod also throws the giant shad with ease.

I love this group of rods, and after having a couple still hard to keep it straight...lol

This is the 10 foot rod, correct?
I ended up using an Allstar which is more than I can throw anymore....

The RS/SU series has a noticably "large" butt diameter, which you are not likely to miss when you pick it up. If that doesn't tell you, tying a brick on the end will... the SU would cast it, and you would'nt want to pick it up far with the SW...

Hey Kevin

Well here's the deal.... if it's this blank and one piece - SW1209 20-40lb line weight, 1-6oz lure weight - then I'm interested. If it's the SU then I'm not. If you can call CMS and find out and confirm, let me know. I don't want to take a three hour ride for the wrong rod. Also interested in the wrap style and colors... like most everything I've had or seen from CMS... but there are some colors that I just can't deal with. Thanks.

Keep it and we'll use it for a bridge gaff.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind
