Going to Arizona

Well, I'm leaving for Arizona on Friday for 10 days to visit my brother. Have any of you guys been there? If so, what is there to do besides get sunburn? Where can I find a striped one out there?

I don't know about stripers, but you can get some trout at Oak Creek in Sedona, the Colorado at Lee's Ferry, the Gila River and in the mountains near Flagstaf.
Depending on where you're staying, you can do just about any outdoor activity. If you can, take a ride through the Four Corners into southwestern Colorado (Silverton,Mesa Verde,Durango). Great scenery, history, folklore, etc.
pm me if you need details.

Where in AZ are you going to be? There is some good fihsing in the salt river and its impoundments, especially in the Roosevelt lake area. There is good fishing for Apache trout on the White Mountain Apache reservation. Also some good fishing on the lakes in the San Carlos Apache reservation.

Supposedly there are stripers in Lake Pleasant which I think is nearby.

One thing you could do while out there is to Tube the Salt river. It's alot of fun with friends, bring an extra tube to hold the coller full of beer.

How's the back?

The back isn't too good , thanks for asking Slip.
The doc says Arizona's dry heat will do me wonders, maybe I'll stay. Now if I can only figure out what to do with the wife and kids. LOL

Thumbs up

Try this steak house in Scottsdale, AZ. It is called Pinnacle Peak Steak House. Excellent Steaks. Has a great view of Arizona Desert with Pinnacle Peak in background (this is a large rock formation). With many Saguaro Cactus everywhere. And if you wear sport coat with a tie the waitresses will cut it off and hang it from ceiling where the thousands of others are hanging.

I'm in Arizona now. This place is definatelly different, 100 deg, desert, scorpions, rattle snakes, all kinds of cool stuff. The monsoons are nasty though, when one kicks up and you're on the highway....watch out! Cant see s#@t. All kinds of car wrecks.

I'm back, this weather sux. I left 100 deg. weather, sunshine all day and never got sweaty, I get here at 80 deg. and pouring rain and cloudy and I'm soaked with sweat in 5 minutes. I hate R.I.
Now if I can only talk the wife into moving.

AZ is great. Learn to speak Spanish and watch out for the killer bees (no joke.) I loved the food and the culture. You do get tired of burning your hand on you door handles though.
I was in Sierra Vista in Dec a few years ago. When I got there it was 75 degrees at 2:00 pm. By 7:00 pm it was 25 degrees and snowing. Beautiful area.

Arizona was different for sure. Lots of dirt and huge mountains. The temp. was around 105 in the afternoon and 80's at night. I saw a pack of 8 wild horses, 2 Buffalo, lots of Vultures, and got caught in a Monsoon. Lots of Casino's there too. I had trouble finding water though, nothing but dirt.

Everyone with a Wal-Fart Special is gonna get a 50 that weekend just cause I ain't around.
