Newport - Restaurant Recommendations

Looking for some advice on a nice/fine dining restaurant in the Newport area. Will be down there this weekend (Sun & Mon) for my 20th wedding anniversary and wanted to take the other half to a nice place.

- Food needs to be more extensive than seafood
- Nice view would be nice too

So far the following have been recommended;
- Spiced Pear
- 22 Bowens
- Fluke Wine Bar & Kitchen

Thanks

And I did reference this old thread;

Go with fluke! The go downstairs to the wharf pub for some beers.

22 bowens does have a killer fillet Mignion though.

I like scales and shells - mostly, if not all seafood though.

Damn, it's been a while since I had been there. They still have an active website.

Decent place with some good deals but it's not anniversary worthy.

Not sure you're thinking of the same Sardellas. I don't recall it being a cheapskates dream with a 2 for 1 menu, but it's been at least 5 years since I was there. I remember it being pretty nice with very good food.

And happy anniversary, Mike!

Great views and great food sometimes don't go hand in hand in Newport. Scratch the view for good food. Stone acre, TSK would be my recommendation. Bouchards or CAstle hill would be a wife pleaser as well.

Castle Hill is a great recommendation, especially if you really like your wife.

Castle hill would be my choice. Try a blueberry vodka.

Is sardellas next to the candy store?

And appreciate the congrats on 20 yrs! She's a good woman, makes me a better man. Glad we met in college since I was heading in a destructive direction and she turned me around.

DITTO. Funny Story. My wife and I are good friends with Tony Dow, (Wally on Leave it to Beaver), and his wife. We took them to the Moorings and they said it was some of the best food they ever ate. I don't remember what they ordered but I had a lobster roll.

No boat, back in the suds.
