tip ups for a friend

I just finished building these for a long time friend of mine who's father passed away last spring, I knew his Dad and Grand father and have been lucky enough to fish with 4 generations of the family... I built these to give to him to honor his Dad and grandfather ( both of which were veterans)

the tip ups are standard "H" style, 25" tall and 4" wide, the wood is ash, the cross bolt and spool bolt are through bolted via a stainless steel insert, the trap remains upright via a brass pin, no wing nuts except on the spool all parts are hand made except the flag and 4" spool, the flag was purchased from jack traps, the spool is HT tackle jumbo spool that I modified to suit my build, they hold 700' of line.. the trigger tubes are 3/16 brass , the wire is 1/8 hard stainless that I bent for the trigger. the tube is greased via a dulac grease gun with shell gadus red lithium grease ( good for minus 20 C)
the wood was sealed with Petit marine wood sealer, then it received 2 coats of Petit easy prime primer, I then followed with 2 coats of petit polyurethane paint ..
I added a stainless "big bait clip " to facilitate the use of large suckers other outsized baits for lakers and pike..

I don't know a tip up from jack... but I can recognize craftmanship!

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms.” – James Madison.
