I have to make a decision on what to purchase for the new Hobie and since they come ready to accept Lowrance transducers, I suspect that I will stay with that brand; although I've been a Garmin guy forever. Since I will be fishing coastal and what to mark or find tog structure a GPS is a must, so now it's between the Elite-4 Chirp finder/gps or spend a couple hundred more to get the larger 5" display on teh Elite-5. If I had unlimited funds, it would be the HDS-7 with touch screen, but I've already blown my budget by going Hobie.

Also curious what life vest most find the most comfortable, I'm leaning towards the Hobie mirage PFD or the Edge both which look somewhat comfortable and seems to be designed for the seat/kayak.

Then it's footwear, since I'm generally not stepping off a float and into a center console any longer, are most purchasing neoprene booties? I would think waders could be an option in colder weather and in the summer my Keen H2O's will be my go to, but colder water means waterproof something.

guy I got my hobie from was running the lowrance elite 5, loved it

ill be running the eliet 4 chirp only because I already owned the unit and never installed it

I'm going kokatat dry pants, ordered em today from bobs sea and ski so I can try em on first. they are putting an order into kokatat for dry suits and pants and tops if you want to see anything.

For footwear, ill grab a nice pair of booties, hard sole, probably NRS or something similar.

also looking for pfd suggestions. needs to cut generous for my keg over my 6 pack

going to be making my own crate, which ill post a how to and pics of once I get going on it, not paying $150 for a glorified milk crate. I picked up a 32L really useful box as the main piece from staples for $25

Cabela's runs a special every once in a while on their brand inflatable Pfd. Runs like $100 ish, much better than the other brands. Dunno about how generous the cut is tho
