Always been a fan of Bigfish pencils, so did some over the winter and tweaked them for what I wanted. Second cast from the dock fooled a just legal fish.

Thanks for posting that Mike! Very cool to see stuff work!

I also want you to know I put a couple plugs in the hands of my friend, Jarrod, who was a survivor of the Marathon bombing, including a few you gave me. He and two of his friends are fishing them while recovering at Shaughnessy! He wheels them out in their wheelchairs! Both brothers lost legs.... Jarrod was more fortunate, but still has a lot of shrapnel in his lower legs.

Nice one Andy. George was kind enough to give me one of those a few years ago. Admittedly, I still have no clue as to how a darter is fished and have never caught a fish on one. Just for reference, how is it rigged with regard to hook size and placement? Seeing I'm off the eel kick there's never been a better time than now to learn something new.

Got this hefty mid 20# class fish this morning on one of my skinny brown pencils. Action was real slow where I was but this fish chased it quite a long distance and finally took the plug down after about 10 attempts...surprised she kept with it as long as she did.

It's rigged with two cut 3/0 and a 5/0 dressed swash on tail. I love fishing darters. That fish was 42", 26# . Nothing great, but it couldn't resist the plug.

I love these posts every year, so good after a long winter and plug building to see the pictures of fish on new wood. I got this one about a month ago. Friend and i were fishing in a bay which seemed like the dead sea. Tide was absolutely not moving, water dead flat, no birds, lots of fishing boats not doing anything. After several hours we were makeing our way back to the launch when my friend said, that bird has been diving down in that spot for a while, there must be bait so let's troll by it. Bam, fish on... nice wake up call on this 36"er. The cool part is I had been playing around with this small swimmer at around 4.875" that you can see hanging in the back of the kayak next to the wheel.

Good luck everyone, tight lines.

Ok, this is getting old...one hit all morning today, low 20# fish on brown pencil. Kind of a repeat of my entire season so far. Nice hit and fight though:
