Amtack 1209

Finally got to use my newly wrapped Amtack 1209 this morning.
Jigged 3 and 4oz rubber with it for a few hours and it felt very sweet.. good distance, plenty of backbone, and a nice fast action.
Great jigging blank for the money....

Then took it to toss some plugs.......
Throws 4oz Hog Hunters and 3oz polaris poppers sooo well....
Throws 3 and 4oz Mega Bait jigs way.... way out there....

Liked the blank so much I stopped to see Mike at M&D's on the way home and picked up another 1209 to set up just for tossing BIG WOOD....

Excellent blanks for the $$$$$$

7000 CL Rocket with 65lb Power Pro and a 6500 C3CT Blue Yonder with 65lb Whiplash. Rod worked very well with both reels.

Whats the sweet spot on your 1208 Chris?

The 1209 loves 4oz

Dont know yet. I cant stop using one particular plug which is a little light, mabey if I pop it off I will be forced to try another. That plug "walks the dog" like crazy (insert huge slurping splash here)

hey bob...i heard the coast guard got called in this morning...some people thought the green glow coming off your guide wraps was caused by the nuke plant reactor melting down...

and btw, turn your rod right-side-up please...

After taking out the rod for the first time this weekend, I'd say it's a proven fact that canal fishies love bright green thread wraps.

OK heres the plug, no name. I made it. Yes its a staged shot cause I have no Digi cam. The 1208 throws it OK but the spinner here loves it. Like I said earlier when this thing starts walking the bass come off the bottom like a rocket. I stopped using it cause its the only one and need to copy it.

cool

Hey:

I've got the same rod. Amtak/ Patriot 1209. I think they are the same, but I could be wrong.

I got it at the same place. I plan on christening it this friday 6/13 at the ditch.

Fishaddict:

Is yours set up for spinning or conventional?

Stroth, it's set up as an unconventional conventional.
It's spiral wrapped.

very cool

I've read about the spiral wrap, but I've never seen one close up.

How has it been handling for you?

I'd imagine that the spiral wrap allows the rod to have even less twist when under load.
