Ski Boots (new 2 piece model)

Mary wanted to skiing for a 1/2 day so we went up to Wachusett. Weather was great and snow was good. We stayed on the greens all as she is still a begineer.

After 4 or 5 runs we went inside for some hot chocolate. Checking the time we figured we had time for a few more runs before heading home. As we were heading for the door, (I was infront) Mary says "my boot broke". Turning around I was expecting to see a popped buckle. What I saw was the front of her boot in her hand.

Strangest thing I ever saw. Anyone else ever see a boot fail like this ? I'm just glad it broke when it did. If that had happened while she was skiing, she probably would have been hurt. The boots seemed fine when I buckled them for her.

The boots are like 6 or 7 years old and she probably skied 20 odd times with them. She said they were a little snug but not that snug.

Mary laughing after it happened. She said it just popped off.

2 pairs of rear entry styles broke on me just walking like that. Had pair of soloman's do that on the slope, but it was only some of the colladeral damage in an epic yardsale on avalanche at cannon.

In Steamboat last year there was someone on the shuttle bus with me and their boot split like that too. His boot was about 4 or 5 years old though and has seen some use.
