Anyone been out early season goose

This is my first hunt of the year with my 10 month old Drahthaar "Ben". I snuck out to my fav spot and the geese were sitting basking in the sun so I decided to stay in the tree line and watch for a bit, after sometime and making the decision that the birds would not be moving anytime soon I sent Ben to chase them off the water, he split the flock in half and one group flew out into the wind the other flew downwind and turned to head into the wind 40 yards from me. BAD MOVE as I was waiting with a gun full of BB's for them, Ben made the retrieves and we packed it up.

What kind of geese are those? They don't look like canadians. Brant?

I was thinking of getting out these myself.

They are Canada's, I didn't present them well I had to get going to pick up my son at school, they are also covered in mud that they were dragged through.
