i don't know salty, i seem to recall seeing needlefish with that same eye cut being sold commerically by a builder whose lures are very common. looks like a clone to me.

i have to agree w/ charlie on this one. there seems to be a lot of instant lure builders in the past year that seemed to have just bought equipment within the last year. doesn't seem like too much r&d work has been done in that short of a timespan. originality is out and cloning/copying is in. this isn't important for the people that just want to build a few lures for fun for themselves (again, themselves), but for those that decide to build/sell commerciacally you better check what's out there first.

My lures aren't clones of anyone's lures.

Show me the same color patterns and eye ideas on other lures that look like that?

And for the record, i've been woodworking since I was 7 years old...so I didn't just buy the equipment and start this year as you profess. I got the carvings and furniture...wanna see some?

unreal.

I'm done with this. You guys can debate it all you want.

Oh so you're trying to say by posting that link that i'm copying Hab's?
Guess what you're wrong!
Know where I came up with that idea? I messed up drilling a eye one day...I WAS using 3/8" eyes and on a bunch of plugs the eyes ended up off center, so to fix them I overdrilled them. I liked how it looked and kept doing it on the next batch. Wanna see the rest of the plugs that are still sitting here cuz I wasn't happy with them? They're all hangin from the ceiling.

I never even SAW a Hab's plug until I bought one from Tim sometime in December to see what everyone was talking about. Wanna see the receipt?

Oh and maybe you should know that I spent probably 30 hours toying with a idea I had to weight a plug from the back....and fully planned on starting some like this, then I saw that Hab' already came up with the idea and I was bummed because I thought it WAS my own...so i'm not doing it.

And i'm not getting upset, but will tell you guys that I LIVE BREATH SLEEP plugs every day. Anyone that has been to my house will tell you that. I'm constantly dreaming up new ideas. NOT copying anyone else! I resent the fact that someone even has the nerve to say that I am.

For the record Sea Wolf and Charlie, some of the big names in plugs copy other peoples designs as well. Ever hear if it ain't broke don't fix it. How many make darters, poppers, needles, surfsters, danny's????? The guy never asked for your opinion. Who cares if he was building plugs for 1 week , 1 month , or 10 years bvefore he went the way he did. All the negativity in this town sucks. Maybe if more people would make a quality plug, like Habs, BM, Tattoo, and Salty we would all be better off. Take a Lex out of the package and see how fast the finish wears off. It's alway these sophmoric posts that ruin a site. If ya don't like it keep the comments to yourself.

I love my OJ needle.

I don't know what "That" you are talking about Krispy.

OK, is everyone thru now? Nobody has to prove anything so lighten up and go stare at your own plugs and dram about what you will catch on them.

btw, the reason i posted the pics is to show you the difference in eyes i've gone through now, from stick-on cheapies to drilled molded to overdrilled molded.
And some I still keep drilled like my smaller needles-3/8" molded eyes drilled and recessed. Looks better. But again, my own ideas and designs.

I figured it might have been a joke Chris.

Hey BM, nobody wanted my plugs either I like it that way.
Poppers are for people who don't fish at night like real men.

1 would tease with a popper with no hooks and then slap a popper fly out there.. sucked though hat to put a new one on after a fish But liked the popper fly for the hit. If I had a brain i rould have made them on a tube to slind up the 50 mono

You told me today that your needles and some of your other plugs are either makati blanks or copies. How are they not a clone? It isn't very difficult to tell the difference. How you cut the eyes is so incredibly irrelevant and whether or not they are 3d or stick ones. It is still the same basic shape and weighting.

If you think different cut outs for the eyes are R&D, then it is a shame that you weren't building before there were forums like this where alot of hard work was figured out before you could search for it and t instantly appeared. You had to figure it all out and you effed alot of stuff up. R&D is making dozens of plugs slightly different and tweaking them as you go, whether the shape, weighting, lip, etc.

I have seen tons of different color schemes. I would still say a plug is a copy even if it is a different or new color scheme. Still gonna swim the same. I don't think there is anything wrong with copying. I think there should be some testing period however before selling them. There is a huge difference between making a plug for yourself and making one for sale.

I completely disagree. Once he posts his website, the product is up for criticism. If you are ready to accept all of the suckling, you have to be prepared to accept criticism from skeptics. I think threads like this allow you to see the different opinions of a product and the track record of it. In the end... everyone makes a better product if you are able to take criticism as it is instead of it as an attack.

Yikes, what happened in here, children fighting again. John where's the switch, take them behind the barn and put an end to this .

I'm safe, what's a plug? Sluggo come get me if you can, yeah you planted the seed in my head years ago, but mine are all original designs. Point being, not everyone can re-invent the wheel boys. If you think you've got something new, well I'd guess it's been done in some way, shape or form.

Play nice now.

Man!, What happened here?Last night we were having some fun on this thread , Iget home today and it looks like it blew up!!With all the crap and negative attitudes I face at work THIS place was where you could feel like you're among friends who share the same addiction as you.I thought we helped each other here not turn on each other. As far as Salty goes, you guys know we're buddies, but even if we weren't i'd still say he is an up front guy, he never tried to pass off other blanks as his.He IS putting in the hours and finding what works for him. These are fishin' lures, it's all been done before, it's just adding your own touch that makes it YOURS.This is stupid ....
OJ, Ilove the needles, I see we added some color to the purple and now have a sexy olive(don't let BassAssasin see that one!).And i'm happy to say if ya pm me yer address, IT'S TIME !
