west island camping trip 2011???

did this ever happen? i know it was ages ago but the thread just ended? I have paddled to west island, and fished off the rocks many times. It's awesome! but the horrific stench and pools of what looked and smelled like toxic waste form the gulls(couldnt imagine sleeping there) i wonderd how the trip went? definetly a "must yak area" but stay up wind. also the swells can be quite dangerous as they seem to rise from nowhere over the structure below(mostly out front). My favorite spot is the submerged bus size rock between the light house and the island.

I LOVE it when MY WIFE lets me fish

ah, yes. didnt think about that. south shore beach is a short paddle(with lots of fishy structure on the way) so is thrid beach in newport(stop over comorant ledge). I think both allow overnight. Although I still can't imagine prolonged exposure to that rancid stench though. too bad as that spot is awesome.
