I just saw a post Bernzy has passed away.

Sad to hear John Huff aka Bernzy has passed away. A great guy for sure and a great builder. I know he has been battling cancer for the 3rd time I think. I have messaged him a few times over the past couple months to see how he was and I know he read my posts but no reply. I had a feeling it was not good. He will be missed.......and he will be remembered. Rest in peace John.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

not what I want to see posted when I come on here
He will be missed, what a good guy. I really liked John. Glad I had some time to fish with him and learn about making plugs. A real bummer, very sad news

RIP Bernzy

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

A really good person.
A really good plug builder.
His howdy plug, which Steve introduced me to, is the best walk the dog surface bait I ever fished.

I'm sure one of the last things John thought of when he was creating this site, was a "Memorial" page....but with all the members we've lost throughout the years, perhaps it would be an honorable gesture to create such a page?
Maybe move threads such as these, over to that page once they've been on the main page for a week?

Just a thought...

I have some of the old Memorial Pages when I ran them on the front end of the site. Maybe I can restore that after I fix the forum (need a free weekend). Good thinkin' Bloo

A great memory just popped into my head about Bernzy (kind of). When I first started turning plugs I copied 2 peoples lures (for my own use) to get used to turning shapes by hand......one was John Has 2 oz. needlefish which I caught my first fish on a plug I made on, and the second was Bernzy's "Surf Howdy"! I had that "Surf Howdy" out on the beach at Race Point one day and I could see the stripers sliding through the incoming waves with the sun backlighting them (it was beautiful)! Anyway I was working that "Howdy" across the top of the waves as they came in and I could see the stripers lunge out of the waves and crush that lure! I caught about 80 fish that afternoon! It was a great day and I have Bernzy to thank for it!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

; ) And he would smile on that

Loved the Howdy - great plug. As a builder it is his legacy, and he will always be the Surf Howdy guy.
