DJ Muller - Bass Class at the SWE

In September I am doing a class directed at surfcasters that want to dig in and learn, build a great foundation underneath them in terms of surfcasting. The history, the science, the correct equipment choices, making good decisions on where to fish, reading water, how to plan a productive session or trip, understanding the plethera of artificials and how they work in various situations, we will demostrate plug modifying, and lots more.
Dave Anderson and I be working together on this, drawing from his bottomless pit of knowledge and experience.

As a greenhorn or aspiring surfcaster, you won't want to miss this information infusion!

FYI- A little more detail. I have recieved some questions, here is a little more detail.

This class will take place in early fall so that attendees can implement learning while there is still good fishing remaining, not in the cold months where one would have to wait a couple months to put new knowledge into action.

This class is targeted towards all surfcasters from novice right on up, that want to build or fortify, a strong foundation for their future in surfcasting. It will be the most comprehensive class on the subject ever given. It will cover the following subjects in detail:
• The History of Surfcasting in the US. Including, the early bass clubs, plug evolution, early trend-setters and more.
• The make up of the striped bass, the science, anatomy, migration and spawning, mortality and favored terrain.
• It will cover all equipment, how to choose, what to choose and why. It will cover proper dress, wetsuits, drytops, footwear, etc.
• It will cover the main bass catching techniques, everything about eels, chunking, clam/worm fishing, snag and drop and artificials.
• Artificials: We will discuss every type of artificial, and how to use it, and where and when to use it. (Very comprehensive).
• Modifying various lures to make them work even more effectively. Loading, painting, epoxies, hooks enhancements.
• Demonstration: loading plugs, rigging Slug-Go type lures. And the necessary tools for plug modifications.
• Your approach to surfcasting, covering the Physical and Mental Approaches. From hydration and physical conditioning to preparing for an upcoming hard, physical run of fishing. We will cover the mental aspects of collecting information before you fish, developing strategies, understanding what is in front of you, and tying in your experience.
• Tips for keeping a journal.
• The 'striper variables' will be discussed in detail. Learn the variables that an expert factors in before he fishes.
• Learn how to use the migration periods to increase your productivity, how summer patterns can produce.
• Learn how moon phases and tides impact fishing.
• Learn how wind creates activity and which winds are best.
• Finding bait and finding stripers.
• Understanding the herring runs, the menhaden, mackerel, and squid patterns and movements.
