christmas tree plugs

greetings gents, it has been a while guys! life sometimes actually gets in the way of fishing and making plugs too!

.....so, took down my tree, trimmed all the branches off and i am drying it out to make plugs with!
.....i think its a douglas fir but not sure. i have had great luck in the past with native plum and birch, so cutting it and drying it and ripping it isn't an issue...question is, is this wood any good for plugs and who else has turned the christmas tree into spring time glee?
