Fast forward 365 days, new contract to sign. new lock in rate................... $4.35!! Holy crap

Thats gotta be the one of the highest inflation rates in a LOOOOONG time.

going rate as of yesterday was 4.14.

We did and the plan is working perfectly. We have disrupted their production, and have created such a global conflict that oil prices have gone through the roof. Oil Companies are fetching record profits. Would you expect anything less from an administration that all has ties to oil?

I wouldn't sign a new contract. Look for a new dealer end of the summer and you can prob. look in then.

Wow! And I thought I was being screwed at $3.79 [yesterday]. Gas=$3.13-----heating oil=$3.79[+]?! Isn't oil SUPPOSED to be cheaper to produce?

I had two oil tanks installed in the basement when we did a major renovation a few years ago - back when you could save money by buying oil in the summer. It's freaking 2K to fill them...
I'm getting a pellet stove put in my fireplace this summer.

I cancelled automatic delivery about a month ago, and keeping it at 60. With 100 gal minimum delivery at almost $4.00 a gallon they can stick it.

I need to replace the boiler this year so we're converting to gas.

When I had oil heat , the best way to beat the pricing issues was a large tank and buying off season. I had a 1000 gallon tank and would fill it in june or july. The one fill up lasted all year and i could get the oil for sometimes 60 or 70 cents a gallon cheaper off season.

The logic and trick of waiting until the offseason or "summer" months to buy oil at a cheaper rate is over! Last summer that drop in price never happened.....it stayed high all summer....and went higher went winter arrived. So.....my advice is buy now because its just going up in price every day!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

Oh...another thing! I would not bother locking in.....its a huge scam! When it does not benefit the oil company they bail on the contract anyway! Shop around and check the discount oil companies when you need to buy!

No they can't bail on a contract. My dad locked at $2.49 a gallon last fall. Bought 1200 gallons at that price. Then the price went up after the pre-bought oil is gone. He saved a crapload of money this winter by locking in. I stayed with Massenergy and saved some but not as much as him.

Seen them do it Scott! They have the "out" built into the contract if the price goes to a certain level the contract is nullified. I was in the business.....seen it all and heard it all. It happens.

I am working on a construction project and thinking about converting to natural gas as well...I need to check the tank and if there is enough oil I will call them letting them know not to automatically fill the tank.

THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!!

I have a woodstove and oil heat. I cut my heat in half with the woodstove. I only need this winter 300 gallons. The downside to the woodstove is wood prices are also thru the roof. Unless you can track down a tree guy this spring as they cutting down some trees and tell him to dump them in your yard. I just stockpiled 5 cords of firewood and the zero. But I too am going to switch to natural gas.

Sweaters , blankets , longjohns , bed caps , several in one bed...all the old tricks to keep warm will soon be coming back as people simply run out of money for keeping warm.
