I'd say that Sauron was on constant watch for the ring and if the eagles flew into Mordor they would have been sensed early on. It had to be a stealth mission.

I cant tell you how dorky I feel for typing that.

Good to find out that there is only about 6 months between the release of Hobbit 2 and Hobbit 3.

I like to see the stories (all the Tolkien stuff) through other peoples eyes (directors , producers , actors). I experienced the stories through my own imagination when I read them. Nice to experience them from another view point. I do think they overdo the animation. Of course you need a way to make a dragon (since no self respecting real dragon would play a part so derogatory to dragons in general) , but I think the animation is way over used in the last LOR and in the first Hobbit.

A Classic....they will soon be mentioning that in the same conversations with Casablanca and Citizen Kane.

It was ok. Special effects were pretty incredible. The 3D was interesting but didn't add that much.

Generally speaking I'm disappointed at the treatment of the Hobbit vs LOTR, which I though was much better. They had to contrive the story too much to stretch it to three movies…

i didn't think it was OK
I thought it was Fantastic
Granted the dragon battle was a bit long
and of course the ending was a little too abrupt
but that 2 hours 45 minutes ride was great
and i look forward to the 3rd and last episode
