Speak UP !

Just before Christmas i am crossing (walking)from the mini parking lot over to my DCU Bank
to make a deposit and i am halfway across the lane and this woman nearly ran me over....way to close

she had to swerve into the other lane to miss me driving like a bat out of hell to go shop and
she just put up her hand like sorry dude...
she was of the age where she totally had the Blinders on i guess

i was angry enough to place her under citizens arrest for
reckless endangerment ....but i let it slide ...INSTEAD

i spoke to the bank MANAGER and complained that without a cross walk there technically
she wasn't breaking the law and didn't have to even slow down.... so she is going to get it done ASAP.

Please let us know when the installation of the cross walk is complete... I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you.. but at least you made an attempt..

BTW.. if by chance she gets it done in a timely manner.. she's in the wrong buisness... there are quite a few elected officials that could use what she has to offer..

when i was a little tyke running to my elementary school
i forgot to look both ways before dashing across the street
because as per usual i was almost late for home room.
I stopped in the middle of the street and got hit by a car.

You were jaywalking Craig? People use to ask us all the time, do I have to stop for someone crossing the street, not in a crosswalk? Our reply was, no, but you'r be real smart if you did. The only place you have the right of way as a pedestrian is in a crosswalk on a public way. When the law was strengthened a number of years ago, we were told that the person had to be a third of the way into the lane before a ticket could be written for not stopping for the person in the crosswalk. Just stepping off the curb does not mean everything comes to a halt. But hey what am I talking about, I stopped caring about that chit 18 months ago.

Besides from what I understand in Plymouth county ticket writing is down 60% to 80% in most of the towns. So don't count on any action if you had an enforcement issue.

I wanted to finish explaining but the power company had just arrived
saying they were about to replace my power line that got compromised during the Halloween nightmare storm.
================================================

to continue:
I was standing at the top of the neighbors steep driveway trying to listen
for an oncoming car coming down the road for a brief three seconds....
(i have exceptional hearing)

Not hearing anything at all ..... i threw caution to the wind (doh)
bolted down the driveway expecting to run across the street in several hops.

when i reached the middle of the hop- skip- and jump maneuver
i suddenly realized i was about to be struck head on by a car
that was traveling fast real quietly and there was NO chance of escape.

with milliseconds ticking off my only recourse was to jump as high in the air
straight up as possible to keep myself from getting ground up underneath the car.

i ended up hitting the guys windshield rolling over the roof banging down
on his trunk and then landing in the street.

I watched in utter amazement as he floored it and sped off down the road.

I crawled off the road and sat up against a tree wondering how much damage
i had sustained for breaking the cardinal rule that is brain washed into you from day one.

that being....you stop! look both ways! and then carefully cross the street.

i limped to class and told the nurse i had fallen out of a tree.

for the next month i hid my injury like i was a secret agent.

My father (a strict disciplinarian) was always quick to take a belt and give me ten whacks
or so anytime i got in trouble (which was allot)
and i never told any of them what had happened.

my back has never been quite right after that day and several chiropractors
have told me that i am all twisted in my spine and need many hours of
corrective surgery... NO thanks...i'm all set with that Crap....

But now, i dare anyone to even try and hit me because i'll rip your doors off.
