Dishwasher help

No I don't need help washing the dishes, I can handle that. My dishwasher is 10 years old, a Kitchenaid, making noise, does not seem to be filling up with water, not sure if there is a clog or something electronic. It may be time to replace but if it is something I can diagnose, I'll try.

To replace it is another question, what brand, model is best, I am willing to pay more if worth it but if more money does not get more reliability, I'll just grab a whirlpool at HD or something. Thought about Bosch but gets good reviews and bad but they are quiet. They all seem to be made to fail.

any help from the do it yourselfers? thanks!

Take out the baskets and then disassemble the center ring down at the bottom. There will be an impeller one there that pumps water out. Take it out and inspect it. Put a little silicone grease on it when you re assemble. If it looks damaged order a new one.

A bit of debris like a chip of glass can jam the impeller really easily. Look for instructions online as disassembly of different makes can vary. Also make sure the impeller shaft isn’t bent if you can get at it.

I can’t stress enough how quiet and trouble free my Bosch has been for years.

spoke too soon
I think the water valve is no good
I will just get a new one, this one has lived it's life and is not worth putting more money into as the racks are beat also.

Bosch are quiet. I've had a few of them and wouldn't say I was happy with the lifespan. Whirpool seems to always get the top reviews.
