Housatonic River (CT) winter holdovers

Did a charter trip with my 11 year old Sunday, just a quick 2 hour trip, on the Housatonic River in CT, looking for winter holdovers. Saw big, big schools all day, wasn't the non-stop action I was hoping for my son, we boated 7-8 fish, more than enough to keep him very excited, he wants to go back. Pretty stretch of the river, got a great look at a bald eagle for a few minutes.

Used captain Ian Devlin, nice guy, very thoughtful about nature. Perfect temperament for kids.

Good way to get him to get off the devices and get outside. He ate like a pig that night, slept like a rock.

Nice ; )

And that is not a small fish for the Housy this time of year ; ) - have caught some that were clearly locally spawned.

when we first pulled up, we saw a guy catch a 30 inches from shore, i thought it was going to be a catch on every cast. it wasn’t that, but was fun.
