OK then, wow. I was wrong.

To each his own but I'll take the VS and you can have your pen. Mont Blanc does make some great watches too though.

My wife really went overboard on me. In descending order of value:

Finnor Ahab 16 reel
1500 yard spool of 40# Stren Superbraid
R.A. Ribb custom clam "mini-bullrake", with 6' telescoping handle
Rapala fillet knife with serrated blade
The deluxe Berkley line stripper (the D cell sized one)
Rubber apron for cleaning fish

My stepdaughter got me a 750 ml bottle of single malt

Clothes, etc. ... and a disc of KISS greatest hits ... hadn't listened to them in close to 25 years ...

... only two plugs, I got screwed on the fishing front, although that was all that was on my list ...

... Julie gave me jeans that were not Carharts or Levis, said she wanted me to be more Parisan, I told her I hated the French because they wouldn't let our planes fly over the country on the way to Libya and they complain about everything ... and that I prefered to look like and dress like an American ...

... hate to say it but my fishing gift list got ignored by everyone, even my mother and father ... got computer equipment from them ... at least I will be able to store more digital photos when I buy the waterproof digital camera for fishing.

No joke -actually got ties and pajamas. But my son cut a piece of dowel, carved out the front, wittled the end, painted it with rustoleum and put in some screw eyes and trebles. He spent alot of time on it. Kind of looks like a popper needle. Very nice home made present I will always cherish.

I know. I'm wondering how it'll work on the Ahab. This is a new one with a bigger line roller. Size wise 40# should be great. I tried 50# Stren this spring and it was like rope compared to Whiplash. Great handling, but thick.

Rockhound.

Perhaps if you're OTW piece was done in scripted longhand I'd bother reading it

I also got a brilliant Italian true sevenfold tie, but I won't go into that

No fishing gear, not that I needed any. All things considered my take was pretty light. It was good to be home with the family for a week.
