Sous Chef burned his ankle!!

Thought I'd throw this up, if you never have worked in the restaurant business, consider yourself lucky, things like this have happened more times then I'd care to remember.

Sous chef was cooking pototoes for potato salad in a large stock pot, when he went to dump them in the sink the pot slipped back causing the water to splash out, luckily he jumped back so the water didnt burn his body, but it burned the inside of his ankle real bad.

Hes at the hospital now getting some needed medical attention.

That's a pain that'll linger. Looks like he'll be in the flip flops for a while. I handle all the workers comp claims for our company and I've never seen a burn that blistered up like that. Hopefully it heals up quickly for him.

Like fb said he's gonna be in a WORLD of hurt for 3-4 months if he's lucky. That's a VERY tough place to heal.

I had a really bad burn about 1.5x2" from my motorcycle exhaust once and it took almost 5 months before it stopped hurting...and another 3-4 to completely have normal although discolored skin on it.

While not nearly as bad as that I have a nice scar on my foot from a piece of searing hot crab meat that jumped from a saute pan. Gave me a blister just like those...but fortunately much smaller.

Make sure he takes good care, with that much damaged tissue the risk of infection is high.

I spilled boiling hot water on my hand when I was a kid (pouring into a cup from an old whistling tea kettle) and the whistle/stopper popped open at the wrong time and sent boiling water over the cup and onto the back of my hand near the thumb.
Before I knew what had happened, I watched as the skin literally peeled back with the water.....then the shock and pain set in.

I doused it in cold water, but the damage was done. I had to hold my arm in a sling for awhile until the throbbing pain subsided.

It's a pain I hole I NEVER experience again!

He just got back from the ER and saw a burn specialist, a few shots of antibiotics, some silverdine and a script for 750mg vikes.

he has severe 2nd and slight 3rd degree burns, told him to keep it clean and keep in covered.

He has a follow up appointment in 3 days with the specialist.

Luckily he doesnt fish or have tats so he wont be missing out on any action.

The funny thing is the doctor told him to stay out for one day only and is cleared to return to work. seemed odd to me.

The guy is a super hard worker and has been with the company for 11 years, sucks for him.

Lil pussy burn!

Joking, any burn on your foot sucks !

Had a jackass at last corp step into hot fryer oil .

Another guy thought he could do it all and never needed help . Dumped a huge stockpot of pasta/boiling water in the sink. Back washed right over his head. Didn't tell anyone and drove home. We finally figured out what happened. The chef went to his house and found him cowering in the corner in tears .
