Rick H has some 1208 blanks. I have no idea if you cut the butt on one down how much the action would change?

I have a 1208 I bought from Toby L years ago. It is my go to rod. I have 16 other surf rods but I think the 1208 was one of the best blanks ever made.

No boat, back in the suds.

Backbeach built me one back in prob 2002 based on all the rave of the blank at that time that the top 3 1/2 inches snapped off on the first cast with a small storm shad. Threw a new tip guide on it and tried using it as an all around rod but back then I didn't even carry plugs cause all I fished were eels and the rod was stiff so used to snap eels off on casts all the time. As I am not a gear head and have used the same 1205 blanks since then I chalked it up to the blank sucked. I made a few casts a couple of weeks ago with my buddy's old ass 1208 to get a comparison to the new odm rods I moved onto from lamiglass and I must say it is all about the tip with those blanks cause even though it was his 10' against my 11' it was a light weight dream.
I feel your pain and regret
