trump and manufacturing

Chrysler says its building a huge assembly plant in Detroit and adding 6,400 jobs to the area.

From Forbes, an article on how Trump has fared with manufacturing.

Obama said those jobs aren’t coming back, that Trump would
need a magic wand.

Atta boy, Columbo.

The company is getting tax breaks and 215 acres (87 hectares) of adjacent land the city had to acquire. The land and site preparation deals are about $108 million, with Detroit and the state splitting it about equally. Included in the $223 million state incentive package — which was made public for the first time only minutes before its approval by the Michigan Strategic Fund board — is $55 million for site preparation and $168 million in tax breaks, exemptions and cash.

One question did apple build what they and Trump said they would or foxconn just to name a few

is it worth spending a few hundred million, to create 6,400 jobs ( plus what comes
indirectly from that, restaurants, etc)? Maybe. if obama was potus you’d be nominating him for
another novel
prize.

great question on apple, i don’t know.

ford, like chrysler before it, is cutting 7,000 salaried, white collar, non manufacturing jobs. there’s plenty of openings for experienced, talented, white collar
professionals. manufacturing is what your man-crush said trump
would need a
magic wand to restore. as usual, obama was wrong, but never in doubt.

" Most of the reductions are overseas with roughly 2,300 of the job cuts coming from the United States. A company spokesman said 1,500 of the 2,300 U.S. job cuts were voluntary buyouts from last year."
