Learning Thermostats

Anyone use these like the Nest or similar on multi-zone hot water system without central AC? Doesn't seem practical to replace all 4 zone thermostats but was wondering if it would make sense for the two main ones. Also not sure if it makes sense just for heat.

Thoughts?

Live there a bit before you decide.

We have three zones, finished basement that isn't used a ton, so that is programmed (using the free basic programmable we got from our oil vendor) to be in the 50's all winter, and warms up quick if we want to play down there. Anything else would be a waste.

Our upstairs zone, with the open-ish floor plan rarely gets turned on (not at all this winter) as the warm air from the pellet stove rises to the kids room. We put an automatic on it when we moved in, and while not expensive, it wasn't needed.

This only what I was told by a friend who had one. When he lost his internet connection, the thermostat doesn't work. he was without heat until he got internet back.
I would think there is an override but I'm not sure.

No boat, back in the suds.
