favorite mixed drink or spirit or whatever...

sorry if this has already been discussed a bunch. just wondering what people prefer.

when i used to drink a lot my favorite drinks were jack and cokes in the fall and winter and long islands/ grateful deads in the spring and summer. straight jack whenever i got together with 5/0

when I would be drinking a beer and sipping a shot, the shot would always be VO (it's a Franklin/Italian thing, I think). down in the keys it was always tequila(patron).

what do others like to drink, shoot, spill, whatever?

I am not much of a mixed drink person but on rare occasions I do like a good frozen mudslide made the right way with Absolut,Kahlua and Bailey's,no chocolate syrup or whipped cream.

I inhertited my mother's 45+yr. old Westinghouse blender. All metal and two settings:high and low. This is a tank and has no problem with ice.

Vodka is good for getting drunk but not much else. If I'm trying to get the ladies messed up quick a good Cosmopolitan works fast.

I'm a sucker for a martini but it's got to be gin, very dry and I can't have just one. Unless you're at a martini bar or high end restaurant most bartenders don't make a good martini. Try to only drink these on a special occasion or before a great meal.

The basic margarita when done with silver Cuervo, Cointreau and fresh lime juice is another favorite.

But for a cocktail it's got to be old school, like a rusty nail or something else served small, packs a punch and tastes like it's of another era.

Franklin Wine Cooler:
Large glass half filled with ice
Carlo Rossi Burgundy almost all the way to the top
splash of orange soda

a few restaurants and pubs in town actually make pitchers of these. nice to mix it up once in a while...

Put me at the bar at Pepe's in Key West. The best screwdriver on earth. Tall frosted glass with ice. Fill it 3/4 with Grey Goose, then move it over under the orange press where the squeeze 2 locally grown oranges on top of the vodka.... It is quite an experience.

Pete I can't remember the name of the bar in KW me and my girl at the time were at that served the strongest drinks I've ever had from a bar. I had an insane tolerance at the time and you know my size. Well the 2 long islands my girl and I ordered absolutely destroyed us. I've never been so shatfaced from only having two drinks. My girl was a mess. She didn't drink as much as me so she did all she could just to keep from passing out. Took us a good 2 hrs to sober up just from those 2 drinks so that we could keep the night alive, but man did I feel like a rookie after those drinks kicked my ass. Oh an you would have never known how strong they were....they tasted fantastic!

Went to a place in W Bridgewater a while back (on 18 with sand and stuff, now closed I think or name changed) were after several of us had each 10 Long Is Ice teas (limit is 2 ) the waitress cut us off...the nerve of her. So we ask her for Alabama Slammers...she said OK......food bill for 4 couples $100...bar bill $500

I like lots of better liquor straight up but for a mixed drink , the Mai Tai's from Ping Garden in Worcester and the same when they had some ping people open up The Royal Panda in Cumberland. That's almost 30 years as the best Mai Tai's anywhere. Sadly the Royal Panda closed after 20+ years about 2 months ago.

What a Loss!

Wahiema punch

Back in the day partying, I would make Wahiema punch for friends....

1- Bottle Captain Morgans spiced rum
1- Bottle Captain Morgans coconut rum
1- Bottle Captain Morgans rum
1- bottle Blue curacao
1- Bottle vodka
2 -Bottles Orange Juice
2- Large cans of Pineapple juice
1-2 bags of Ice

Mix well in a large igloo cooler/with spout.

I would mix this and warn people that you can't taste the alcohol, so be careful how much you drink! It sneaks up on you.....

After about an hour, I go back to check out how much is left and there's a sign on the cooler, "Non-Alcoholic Punch"

College.....

Biochem Dept Holiday Party Punch

Fruit Punch whatever flavor + 7Up bottles for adjusting the alcohol content....

Little did anyone know the dept secretary was too embarrassed to bring the Absolute Ethanol bottles (200 proof) to the party so she was emptying out the 7Up bottles and refilling with abs. ethanol. The Profs couldn't believe how strong the punch tasted so kept diluting with more 7Up! I'll bet that punch ended up around 150+ proof!

My only regret is I was having a little drinking competition with fellow students, still not sure how I walked the 3 miles home...

Reminds me of why I had to quit drinking. "Stir w/forearm" I love it. Nice posts
