Working on my version of a Musso lipless using the same master which I use for my bottle and popper. The bottle works great as does the popper, now to get the lipless to work.

I have been wanting to try making a lipless swimmer, it looks great. Do you generally have the line tie point in the center? How about weights, do you chin weight?

The original small one has an on center line tie, the medium and large have it below center, but it often needs to be bent up quite a bit. The plugs are belly weighted. They tend to roll and plow a bit. They cast better than a metal lip, but nothing like the tail weighted bottle/popper.
They don't fish as well as a metal lip in my experience, and aren't great in rough water (which sort of defeats their purpose).

I spoke to Musso at a SWLCC show about the plug. He indicated that he never "perfected" it in his mind, so the design may have more to offer.

Every time I see him I pick his brain about it, Don is great! Get him talking and he gives up everything. He is funny, always says the same thing " I know your from Jersey, the hooks are too small on your plugs". I made 3 of them to experiment with and as you said George I think it has potential with some tweaking. Looked at a Tiger Tackle which is very similar design and according to ChefChris swims very good, and as I suspected it was weighted very similar to a Nike Jr. , one of the ways I was going to try.
