Aluminum reel seat

I have an old rod like to rewrap, but there is a crack in one of the clamps on the reel seat. Does anyone have a solution for that? Would welding heat it up so much that it would melt the glue and cork tape would melt? I don't see stripping the cork and seat as a possibility either.

Any input?

Generally people would remove the seat and cork tape and just replace them as part of the rebuild.

i think the heat from welding it would damage what's around it and a weld may not be successful.
