View Full Version : Any Decision On A Beach Buggy Forum??? BigFish 11-27-2003, 10:39 PM Just curious JohnR? Might we see it soon???:ss: :kewl: beachwalker 11-27-2003, 11:43 PM How about a BB forum that emphasizes beach use issues and contributes to the cause by volunteering for cleanups, etc. ? Notaro 11-28-2003, 12:15 AM that would be like the conservation issue forum... beachwalker 11-28-2003, 01:19 AM Yes, have conservation assistance a priority but hopefully be a place were 4wd can share their opinions on all fishing related topics INCLUDING vehicle makes and dimensions. I think some polls need to be conducted to determine who fishes what and how. There are a lot of techniques that the beach driving fisherman needs to know and can develop. I think we are aware that there is a Boat forum. I wouldn't worry to much about it becoming the "MUD BOG RACING, Racing, racing....... forum. :laughs: :laughs: BigFish 11-28-2003, 10:03 AM Beachwalker, MBBA has a handle on the beach/volunteer cleanup situation, and most beach buggy drivers are members, and we can all lend a hand when we are on the beach. I for one have picked up discarded tires, rope and trash of all kinds and humped it off the Race in my Jeep when the need arose. (People are such slobs) Other sites have BB Forums and if we get one we could talk about anything you would like I am sure incuding conservation and volunteer cleanup. What would be better than teaming S-B up along with the MBBA for beach cleanups?:ss: beachwalker 11-28-2003, 02:32 PM BF, You are right about MBBA. Living out on the Grey Lady the MBBA is unrepresented and I wonder about MV ? I (and others) pick up a lot of trash every year and the majority of it is flotsam from the offshore world. Along with loads of dead whale, seal, tuna (yes tuna !), turtle and the occasional human to examine (2 a few years ago), the amount of commercial gear and jetsam is so substantial that the collection of high flyers got so big one year I had to make a multi trip dump run ! :smash: I just believe that it would be nice to talk about beach driving/fishing from an informative and information friendly perspective. Of course, tips on locations of certain access points would be strictly confidential. Ahem, hmm, hm....;) I really think it would be a lot of fun. Might have some initially percieved impact on beach charter fishing but, in the long run, I'd have to say it would benefit beach charter because it would bring more focus to the fun of it all. Maybe we could also train a squadron to eliminate the seals that our attacking our shores. It is our patriotic duty ! :claps: tlapinski 11-28-2003, 02:43 PM i think we decided that it would be just more dillution to the site. if anyone has any beach buggy issues, questions, or tips, they can be brought up here or in the F.A.Q. forum. beachwalker 11-28-2003, 03:04 PM Sorry I wasn't paying attention or wasn't a member yet when that decision was figured out. I drive on the beach everytime I go and it is something that is a normal element to fishing here. I definetly comprende if there isn't enough interest to warrant such a forum. :) BigFish 11-28-2003, 04:01 PM I don't recall reading any such decision!!! I for one think we should give it a shot! We have a Boat Fishing forum, how about a surf fishing forum or beach buggy forum (same thing). Other sites have both (and I really do not like any of those OTHER sites) too much pollution aka horsecrap!!:bounce: :bounce: BigFish 11-28-2003, 04:03 PM The other forum is called Boat Fishing and Boating, how about Beach Buggy and Surf Fishing???:uhuh: :uhuh: Moose Nuckle 11-28-2003, 06:27 PM I'll second that B. F. BigFish 11-28-2003, 06:46 PM Yeah...us surf guys get no respect!!!!:hs: :hihi: :laugha: :uhuh: Squid kids Dad 11-28-2003, 07:03 PM I 3rd that Bigfish..Beach buggy forum..yeah BigFish 11-28-2003, 07:32 PM :bounce: We want a Beach Buggy/Surf Fishing Forum.....We want a Beach Buggy/Surf Fishing Forum!!!!:bounce: :ss: :kewl: :uhuh: beachwalker 11-28-2003, 07:38 PM :) :) :) Karl F 11-28-2003, 08:26 PM I was under the impression, from the original post, that the general concensus was that it was covered here in the main forum. I won't answer for John, but I though from his comments, i.e. K.I.S.S. and L.I.T.F.A., that, that, was that. As a past member of the Board of Directors of the MBBA, and past Publicity committee member, I had asked, and was granted permission from John, to post information about the MBBA Spring Cleanups on the Conservation Forum, and posted on the calender. A few from S-B.com showed up, that I know of, and maybe others did, that I was not aware of. Beachwalker, I do know that we do not have many, if any, members from the islands, but I know we do have one Excecutive Board member, who is very much in tune with the politics of beach buggying over there, and keeps a watchfull eye on the situation there for the club. Yes, there are other BB forums on some other sites. Some lay dormant, and others go on ad-nauseum, to borrow a quote from a fellow past board member... If it happens here, I will be there, however, I think any one posting a comment or question on the main board, would get there answer, or opinions in a straight forward manner. Those of us that do use our buggys for fishing, already know the basics. I would not say that all surf-casters are beach buggy enthusiats... I have run into more than one that parks in the main lot, and walks, and can't stand the idea of any one, fellow fisherman or not, driving on the beach. Not looking to stir the pot, or rain on anyones parade.. just my 2 cents worth. Hey, it's John's call no matter what! Karl F 11-28-2003, 08:34 PM after reading my post, I'm voting for a spell checker :( :( if'n yer gonna add anything :laughs: beachwalker 11-28-2003, 08:38 PM :crying: :crying: :boots: :boots: :crying: :crying: :boots: :crying: :crying: But whyyyy:crying: :crying: :boots: :crying: :crying:yyyyyyyyyyy Obviously plugging for a new forum of this nature isn't going to get much support with the season being at it's end and anticipation running slow. There is some cool chit that you find out on them beaches. Lot of different spots and ways to fish. Karl, I get the feeling you know that and completely respect your stance on the issue. Sox just inked Schilling ! Oh sh%$t I am a Yankees fan :smash: :smash: :smash: Goose 11-28-2003, 08:42 PM ...02, I think the site has been primarly surf orientated. BigFish 11-28-2003, 09:06 PM I think that a Beach Buggy/Surf Fishing forum would remove much of the "ad nauseum" from the Stripertalk forum. Take a look at the Boat Fishing/Boating forum....there is much "ad nauseum" there, and on a couple of the other forums for that matter, nobody seems to mind that too much! I know I don't, it simply adds to the fun in my opinion and gives some of the newbies that will come along a little more of a general direction when looking for info. I know much of just about everything is discussed on the Stripertalk forum, maybe having a Beach Buggy/Surf Fishing Forum would alleviate a little of the "ad nauseum" from that forum and cut down on some of the "traffic", for want of a better term, on the Stripertalk forum! Just my .02 cents....errrr.....08 cents worth. I still would like to see it happen! OK....09 cents worth!:biglaugh: :uhuh: Notaro 11-29-2003, 01:11 AM Goose, I agree to that. This site has been surf-oriented. We have boat-oriented here too. BF- About the horsecraps thing, what about human's excrements? I once busted a stupid "gluck" (from the malibu's wanted) taking a numbero 2 on the bench close to the cvs and town river marine patrol's dock. So we might step on them someday, but hey, you can't blame a person crapping on the beach due to the inavailability of porter-house. At least a person can be decent enough to bury it. And I hardly recognize the "ad nasueum" on the boating site... Yes, seals must be outta chatham and monomoy! JohnR 11-29-2003, 11:03 AM Guys - the reason why there is no "surf forum" is because the main board is the surf forum and other things too. We started the "boat forum" a year and a half ago or so as we were getting more and more boating questions ( I suppose I can take "new" out of the description now). Oh yeh, while boat fishing must be done from a boat (and therefore included on the same forum :D ) Surf fishing is most often not done from a beach buggy hehehe. The Main Forum has always tended to be more surf oriented. In my unofficial numerology, I figure we are 75/25 shore / boat with some of those people being dual anyway... As for opening up another board just for beach buggy stuff, a few of the non-instigating old timers (:laughs: ) came up with some simple reasoning, just to keep it simple. With that in mind we'll likely stay status qoe for a while BigFish 11-29-2003, 11:18 AM :bc: :bc: :bc: :ss: I can dream can't I ???? beachwalker 11-29-2003, 02:38 PM Bummer. I can't believe that we have forums like fly fishing (which basically has zilch response) and other unused forums, etc. I guess it takes all kinds. I respect the decisions that all have made here but do NOT see "Surf" being the same as "beach". Two totally different sets of circumstances, etc. But if no one is into learning how to be a better oversand fisherman then so be it. bloocrab 12-01-2003, 01:42 AM Hey John... Can we have a bridge fishing forum?? beachwalker 12-01-2003, 07:00 AM More like a bridge fishing wankers forum. Maybe it can include tips about throwing yourself off, too. How many miles of bridge are fished compared to miles of beach ? :laughs: :laughs: :laughs: Jenn 12-01-2003, 08:35 AM fact is as much as I myself like the beach buggy forum Idea I know what will happen.....everyone will post for a few days maybe even a couple weeks and then sit vitually untouched like some of the other forums.....I think that stuff can go on the main forum. ok and stupid question.....just what is the difference between a surf fisherman and a beach fisherman????? bloocrab 12-01-2003, 08:54 AM Maybe it can include tips about throwing yourself off, too ....nope They have "Call the Samaritans" signs posted on each end with an emergency cell phone duct taped to the light pole Van 12-01-2003, 09:21 AM Hey Bigfish !!!! WHAT'S BEACH FISHING ????????:smash: :smash: Moose Nuckle 12-01-2003, 10:08 AM VAN, I think that's when you go out and try to catch a BEACH.    Van 12-01-2003, 10:19 AM Oh I see, Then beach buggys must be those annoying flies, gnats and skitos that bother you when your on the beach.. Boy I got edumacated today ! BigFish 12-01-2003, 10:29 AM There is no difference between beach and surf fishing, I think that needs no clarification:smash: and I am with Beachwalker on the "bridgefishing" thing:tm: Boatfishing- Yup, caught a boat once! Moose Nuckle 12-01-2003, 10:54 AM Well if that's the case. I want a " Put a clam on a hook and sit my fat behind on a chair, have a drink and wait for a fish forum." beachwalker 12-01-2003, 11:26 AM Awesome Bloo ! :) :laughs: :laughs: :laughs: beachwalker 12-01-2003, 11:38 AM And to answer Jenns question: To me Surf fishing is any fishing done on the coastline of the sea or arms of the sea excluding rivers, harbors, estuaries, etc. Surf fishing is what it is. Rock/Jetties, piers, beaches, cliffs. You know what I mean. ALL of that could have surf. But do you drive out onto that spot ? That is my question for the potential forum. I see what people mean about keeping it all in one. It works so why screw with it. I just believe that some of us are primarily focused on 4wd access issues everytime we fish and that has a tremendous amount of residual information that goes along with it. Especially info on wheres, hows and whens. This site is tremendous as it is and that is an answer unto itself. :) Jenn 12-01-2003, 01:18 PM whew...you had me thinking I had it ALL wrong!!;) ;) :D Notaro 12-01-2003, 01:34 PM bloo, u will also get some gnats and flies on the boat while fishing bloocrab 12-01-2003, 07:21 PM hey John.. Can we have a googer fishing forum? JohnR 12-01-2003, 08:07 PM Originally posted by bloocrab hey John.. Can we have a googer fishing forum? Can we have? I thought we already did  Got Stripers 12-01-2003, 08:46 PM Surf fish don't count, play in the sand, maybe get some spray in your face, come on. I like getting vertical, gear pounding to the point of breaking loose, face so wet you can't see that ledge ahead, fog bank coming and gps just went down, prop just lost a blade in the dark now what, squal line blowing in fast 10 mile run to port, can you say horizontal rain. Winter, stir the pot, stir the pot:). Van 12-01-2003, 10:28 PM Yea Bob, that sounds about right for an average day at sea...... beachwalker 12-02-2003, 07:21 AM GSm I know. I am a cakeboy beach fisherman. :( I don't even like getting wet. And taking the fish off the hook is scary  My boyfriend fishs from a boat. He is such a stud :musc: :laughs: :laughs: :laughs: Notaro 12-02-2003, 12:07 PM How about a cusine forum, JohnR? JohnR 12-02-2003, 12:21 PM  I have had requests for Yaking, Beach Buggy, Freshwater, groundfish, (one for locked access over two particular bridges :hihi: ) and a couple others I can't think of. My opinion the two major categories of saltwater fishing are boat fishing (must be done from boat) and shore fishing, oddly enough coming from the shore. By basic definition surfcasting is a subset of shore fishing. Not all shore anglers are surfcasters but all surfcasters are shore anglers. Boaters can be river, offshore, inshore and then divied up into presentations, bait, artifical, fly and shore anglers can be divied up the same way too. You can be in the salt or in fresh or even dig a hole thru the ice, or.... tlapinski 12-02-2003, 12:31 PM john, can you set up the message board so that everyone can have their own forum? this would end all the headaches associated with people not knowing where to post things. we would be able to talk about anything we wanted to in our own forum, without cluttering up everyone else's forums. :thanks: JohnR 12-02-2003, 01:08 PM Toby - how about a CT River forum ?? Karl F 12-02-2003, 01:09 PM for that LAOTPB forum ;) tlapinski 12-02-2003, 01:13 PM Originally posted by JohnR Toby - how about a CT River forum ?? sure. wouldn't be too exciting though. just a bunch of pictures of me with 30# bass! :smash: Got Stripers 12-02-2003, 08:22 PM Hey I've fished the beach with a guy with pink paints, does that make me gay? Since I go both ways boat/surf, does that make me bi? Oh no, I'm starting to sound like Ben, how does one change log on id's so I can post mindless dribble and stir the pot more:).
