There have been several instances where gulls have dropped starfish within 20 feet of me when walking the dog down by the Sakonnet River Bridge...I usually return them to the water, I'll have to get out the panko flakes :D

No, really, who's got a good recipe?

These things are edible and supposedly are pretty tasty, like sea urchin gonads (ask any sushi afficianado).

You boys need to have something pulling on your rods and I know your minds are all working overtime on a clever retort for that opening statement.

Star I have to applaud your sense of humor, I had a couple beers with Clammer yesterday and I'm afraid he's a lost cause; but we all love him anyway:).

He has the same problem on my boat, nothing much pulls his rod either.

Starfish LINK style : Let them soak in fresh water for 5 hrs. then make a simple egg wash and dredge them in a light flour and garlic salt mix ,,, in the mean time get your frying pan with enough oil like 1/4 " or so nice and hot put prepared starfish in and cook each side until golden brown , let sit on a paper bag to let oil soak off and enjoy with a wobboly pop

Mike,

Top row, far left is tuna. My favorite. :D

Top row, far right is red snapper. Yuck - almost always two weeks old and dried up. :yak:

Bottom row, 2nd from left , giant clam. Yuck. By the time it gets to you, it's invariably crunchy. :yak5:

this is one of the most humerous, seemingly innocent, and yet very disturbing threads.....

I like my starfish, like I like my clams - raw

and I have to agree, starfish and clams are better brazilian sushi style

Starfish are beautiful creatures.

I cannot bring myself to eat them.

So I will admire them from afar, marveling in their life-affirming, slimy grasps of hormone-induced squishiness. :lurk:
