and its like half of the old ones....they've raised the prices as much as they

can...so now they start shrinking the product to increase profit margins.

your right...pulled out the pkg. of wheat english muffin's and went to pop one in the toster..the bottom was good size ,,but the top was only half the size of the bottom,,after it got cooked I couldn't find the top :confused: must have fallin down in the tray with the rest of the crumb's. :mad:

Sure, it could be a price increase in disguise, but it could also be in response to critics who think we all eat waaaay too much refined sugar, enriched white flour and saturated fats. Sad to say, it could be fear of obesity lawsuits that could be contributing to your smaller foodstuffs portions. :faga:

but some has to do with operating costs and materials cost all of which are directly affected by rising fuel costs ...both heating \cooling and transportation. When i go into a produce section and start seeing vegetables
that i wouldn't wanna feed to hogs for escalated prices i flip out. $5.99 for a measley little 7 0unces of spinach ...pffffffffffff thats wrong...way wrong!:hs:

Open a can of tuna lately? Used to feed 3 people,now your lucky to get a sandwich and a half out of it.
I gotta say though food in this country has been the biggest bargain we ever had. The costs and hard labor that go into farming ,picking,shipping,storage and selling and the selection we have still makes it a bargain. Big combines are buying out the small farmer and so goes the competition and prices.:(

I noticed it in September when I went to stop & shop. My wife wanted me to get some ice cream for my grandfathers birthday party (he turned 89). Go to grab 2 1/2 gallons and see that they are only 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 qts depending on manufacturer. Price still the same but quite a bit smaller containers.

and i was lookin at a bar of soap...one day... with it's concave or covex shape depending on how ya look at it... and i suddenly realized that it's shaped that way to need a bigger box thickness wize .... similar to how that bottom dippled peanut butter jar trick works....friggan hocus pocus

Can't buy a pound of coffee anymore either

They have done it twice to ice cream from 1/2 gal to 1.75 and now 1.5 quarts and price stays or goes up a little. Makes it a real pain if you are having a party for instance. Have to get two containers of each. Also did it to yogurt. One of the yogurts I like actually put on their website that some people couldn't finish an 8 oz cup as an excuse. Potato chips and other snacks too.

Just opened a can of B & M baked beans-50% more liquid than beans. I always buy B&M because of the thickness of the sauce. Back to homemade for me.

Things may not be as bad as they seem.
