I have a Jeep Compass and the dealership wants to charge me $515 for a hitch! Outrageous. Anyone know of where to get a less expensive hitch on the South SHore?

I've dealt with them in the past, pretty fair pricing, better than the dealer at least. keeperreaper 07-02-2007, 09:14 AM U-haul They did my Wrangler for both the back and the front for the basket. Good job on all fronts and cheap in comparison. Does that 515.00 include foreplay and breakfast? fishsmith 07-02-2007, 10:25 AM I second or third uhaul, at least buy the hitch there. if you're a do it yourselfer, they are very simple. MarshCappa 07-02-2007, 11:00 AM Looks ridiculously simple to install, even I could handle 4 bolts to the frame. Thanks everyone! zacs 07-02-2007, 11:28 AM the hard part is the wiring. It is not really that hard, but it is harder than 4 bolts. TheSpecialist 07-02-2007, 03:47 PM The dealer is probably putting in more than a trailer hitch, possibly a tranny cooler, those are usually tow packages. pmueller 07-02-2007, 04:40 PM Had Uhaul do an older truck in Jersey. Along with a transcooler. Redsoxticket 07-02-2007, 05:22 PM Do it yourself... http://www.etrailer.com/ http://www.hitch-web.com/ I second that. Huge savings. The trailer hitch threaded holes on the jeep may need to be rethreaded to clear the threads of rust & grud. Smokey14 07-03-2007, 07:34 AM the hard part is the wiring. It is not really that hard, but it is harder than 4 bolts. More often than not, on the newer suvs and pickups wiring is a simple matter of plugging in a wiring harness for the trailer plug. Allot better than cutting and splicing like we used to do. U-Haul should have the wiring harness for your make and model when you buy the hardware. MarshCappa 07-03-2007, 09:15 AM Ordering all the parts thru Drinkwater for $200 and they will install the hitch. I'm going to do the wiring as it doulbles the cost because of labor time to run the wire back to the battery. I work for a custom electronics company and the owner here said he could wire it for me for a few beers! Do a little bending.. MarshCappa 07-05-2007, 03:35 PM To ease the pain head over to Mary Lou's while they fix it, good coffee and those girls are easy on the eyes :heybaby: :laugha: I know! Was there this morning! I work in the same plaza as the Hingham Marylou's and I know those girls by name. They make me feel pretty old though. MarshCappa 07-06-2007, 08:14 AM They adjusted the exhaust and it seems to be better. That Marylou's is awesome! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
