Trailor hitch installers

I have a Jeep Compass and the dealership wants to charge me $515 for a hitch! Outrageous. Anyone know of where to get a less expensive hitch on the South SHore?

Drinkwater trailer. I've dealt with them in the past, pretty fair pricing, better than the dealer at least.

U-haul They did my Wrangler for both the back and the front for the basket. Good job on all fronts and cheap in comparison. Does that 515.00 include foreplay and breakfast?

Looks ridiculously simple to install, even I could handle 4 bolts to the frame. Thanks everyone!

the hard part is the wiring. It is not really that hard, but it is harder than 4 bolts.

The dealer is probably putting in more than a trailer hitch, possibly a tranny cooler, those are usually tow packages.

The trailer hitch threaded holes on the jeep may need to be rethreaded to clear the threads of rust & grud.

More often than not, on the newer suvs and pickups wiring is a simple matter of plugging in a wiring harness for the trailer plug. Allot better than cutting and splicing like we used to do. U-Haul should have the wiring harness for your make and model when you buy the hardware.

Ordering all the parts thru Drinkwater for $200 and they will install the hitch. I'm going to do the wiring as it doulbles the cost because of labor time to run the wire back to the battery. I work for a custom electronics company and the owner here said he could wire it for me for a few beers!

Exhaust pipe is probably hitting the hitch somewhere. Do a little bending..

I know! Was there this morning! I work in the same plaza as the Hingham Marylou's and I know those girls by name. They make me feel pretty old though.

They adjusted the exhaust and it seems to be better. That Marylou's is awesome!
