I typically use sluggos for my soft plastic baits, but I just found a pack of the 9" YUM Houdini Shad in my basement. I'm just curious if anyone uses them, how to rig/modify them, and your results.

thanks

I have done well with them. I have wacked em in the spring on the rivers with the hook they come with working em like a sluggo. I have taken pretty nice fish in the canal on a big jig head and also in rivers local to where we are on 1oz range heads. However, they don't really last long on a jig head due to limited amount of rubber in the head of the lure. I have actually had success putting a bunch of wraps of rod thread around em with some zap a gap to keep em on the jig. Overall they are pretty underated in my opinion and work pretty darn well. Definately try em in the spring.

I too use them on rivers in the spring as they have the perfect herring profile. They work extremley well unweighted. I've often thought about rigging them like sluggos with nail weights but I never have. They make a great blackish purple color. I see no reason that they wouldn't work....
