So, come and show Team S-B a good effort :btu:
Short version, clubs from all over CT, RI, Mass compete for the three largest bass and three largest bluefish to be caught as a TEAM.
Please add your name here to this list so I can get a roster together.
An historical note: With a strong team effort and Herculean effortd by Johnny Habs, Tattoo, and Krispy a/k/a The Gas Man, Team S-B won this event several years ago. It is time for a retake :btu:
I will be donating several plugs to the raffle table at the Andrea as well...

Gotya!
Thanks
striperondafly 10-10-2007, 03:14 PM ggod thing here111 - my wife has Multiple Sclerosis and I just did the 150 mile ride and am doing another 100 mile ride Sunday in NYC
redcrbbr 10-10-2007, 07:00 PM John, I will be down there at some point during the event. Katie says she wants to go also. May want to try and find a place where the wind (just in case) will let us grill.
In The Surf 10-11-2007, 05:51 PM I know last year there was talk on expanding the border beyond Narragansett to include the east side of the state (Jamestown, Newport, etc....) Any word on this?

No luck. They're still scared to let Newport County fish their home waters. Look at what happens in the spring challenge. :hee:
At least it's not a 2 hour round trip for me to weigh a fish anymore though... :btu:

Way back when the scope of the tournament was just Watch Hill to the hard side of Charlestown. One of the goals of the organizers, and a principal reason for having the tournament, was to bring clubs together. Limiting the area made it more likely that guys from different clubs would meet each other. It has since been expanded from Napatree to the Narrow River, but is still limited at least in part for that same reason.
Bobbike 10-12-2007, 06:15 AM John, I'm going down Fri. morning. If you remember, bring 2 T shirts (XL) one each color. Not sure where I'm staying, but I should have some floor space at least. Call me when you get down.
I'm in for Friday night - no can do Sat night though.

OK Who Else Can Fish for Team S-B :musc::tooth:
JohnR 10-14-2007, 12:24 PM Update: Couple people asked about a "fee" - There is a team fee and I already took care of that ;) - so no fee for the individuals, just the team and I already paid that which goes right to the money raised for the MS Society...
Come on, we need more sign ups :btu: :nailem:
:thanks:

tynan19 10-15-2007, 06:58 AM Put my name on the list. Not sure when I can weigh in as I work Sat. and Sun. Will be down Friday. Can other members weigh in someone elses fish?
tlapinski 10-15-2007, 06:20 PM Watch out for the sleeper team from CT... :vamp:
Katie 10-15-2007, 07:23 PM i'm seeing if i can get a friend to go. i'll have a for sure idea sometime before friday.
rphud 10-16-2007, 08:17 AM Hi John
You can put my name in. I don't know what times I will be up, but I am definitely planning on being there. Sounds like Friday would be "normal" with the rain and lightning and all.

RIROCKHOUND 10-16-2007, 09:13 AM Sorry NCSWFC and SB.com...

Gotta fish for them...

I guess living there is an acceptable excuse. ;)
See you on the rocks.
JohnR 10-17-2007, 06:27 AM OK, need some more SB signups ! I need to get the roster in over the next couple days.
What time would be good for the BBQ on Saturday (will have shirts) at Misquamicut?
This is probably a stupid question but how is the winning club determined? Or is it just for bragging rights as far as who caught the 3 biggest bass and 3 biggest blues? Cool either way, just curious.
tynan19 10-17-2007, 06:31 PM John, did you see my post. If I was to catch a weighable fish Fri night can someone weigh it for me on Sat. I have to get back to work Sat morning.

John, did you see my post. If I was to catch a weighable fish Fri night can someone weigh it for me on Sat. I have to get back to work Sat morning.
Ooh - I slipped on that, no - you would have to weigh the fish in during the shop hours. Pretty sure they would have a big NoNo on someone else weighing in your fish. Back in the Good Old Days, Don M would keep the store open for registration almost all night. But, alas, he is no longer there... :bl: (Hi Don :wiggle: )...
Luds, winning club is the total weight of the heaviest three bluefish and heaviest three bass weighed in for the TEAM. It is a combination of Bragging Rights AND you keep the Plaque for a year. Of Course, it also goes to support a worthy cause, annually raising more than $1000-1300 every year...
S-B a few years back: Krispy, Johnny Habs, me, & Tattoo

Um, don't you mean Krissy, or the hoser? :rotf3:
Count in myself, Clogston, and Canalman for s-b.
Not sure we can help with the bluefish effort much. Neither Josh or I have caught one all season.
How much we participate will more than likely be controlled by our other halves. :fishslap:
Great cause regardless.

JohnR 10-18-2007, 06:25 AM Um, don't you mean Krissy, or the hoser? :rotf3:
Yeh, but that horse had been beat so many times but sadly the man that used to thrash that horse the most is no longer with us...

Cool! And there are enough Bluefish down here that someone as unfortunate as yourself in the bluefish department might be able to catch up a little
OK, list is firming up - looking for more people for Team S-B :btu:

Redsoxticket 10-18-2007, 06:52 AM Wouldn't it be nice if we can call a key contact that will give out standings. This would avoid a unnecessary trip to weigh-in and fish kill for those that would have released otherwise. What do you say, Bossman?

RIJIMMY 10-19-2007, 02:53 PM yup thats bay - should be a fun night out front!
Im fishing for that sleeper CT team as well. Good luck to everyone.
I'm out for tonight at least. Can't see driving 2 hours to fish in those conditions. I'm sure I'll miss out on something. Go get 'em. :smokin:
redcrbbr 10-19-2007, 10:22 PM kind of funny how it almost always seems to blow up during this event. see you all there. John will call you when i get down that way sat morning

It calmed a little this morning, I fished 2am to 8am. One hit on an eel, fishing the inflow on an outflow
that was it for me, looks like another year not weighing in a fish, good luck to the rest of s-b:cheers:
dredey 10-20-2007, 05:27 PM Last night was brutal. Unfishable.!!!
Anxious to see how you guys do tonight. I chose to stay in home waters. Good luck.
JohnR 10-21-2007, 09:58 AM Fishing was tough... Seas were big... Not many fish weighed in...
We'll be better organized next year :hee:
Pete_G 10-21-2007, 10:27 AM We called it off early Saturday night. After the all night beating the weather gave us Friday night and the conditions of most spots on Saturday everyone wanted to go fish where the fish were.
I made the mistake of watching the game. Fun and all, but the rest of the crew that went on really cleaned house. Too bad Massachusetts isn't part of the of Challenge fishing area. We would have had a team total around 140 pounds...
Congrats to whoever pulled off the win in those challenging conditions.
Finlander 10-21-2007, 05:44 PM Fishing was tough, RISAA took it with 90-91 lbs, Pioneer Valley Boat and Surf Club was second with 50-51 lbs, third place was around 30 lbs. Most of the fish were caught early this morning, top bass a couple of 27 pounders and largest blue 12 lbs. Was a good time for a good cause.
Fished hard, and ended up with a few small bumps on an eel. Still a good time. Nice meeting JohnR and Don! Never know who you'll run into out there.
fishpoopoo 10-22-2007, 07:01 AM conditions were ok, considering what was reported the night before. but the water was churned up.
slow going from midnight to sunrise sunday morn.
