hello everyone. i think alot of people would agree that chumming up bait is a horrible task nevermind bouncing around in a boat doing it. how do you go about it? do it at home or on the boat/beach? any gadgets i could make? and how about that fish oil stuff is it worth the money?

Freeze blocks of it ahead of time and tie it off the stern and as it thaws it releases the chum, you can use a large mesh bag like a laundry bag or something.

Yup, like Slip said.
I like to run it through a meat grinder before freezing. Often use waxed cardboard OJ or milk containers to catch the liquid/oil. Then can poke holes in it to help release of chum as it thaws in the water. I use a mesh to hold the container, same as the bait bags the lobstermen use. No need to pay up for grinder either, flea markets and yard sales. Saw one in shop today for 18 bucks! Can get it for a buck at a yard sale. They can also be mounted on a wood block with a dowel that fits in the rod holder so you can grind right over the side too.

Best advice: Ask before loading the lady's freezer with the chum pots!!!!!!

I think it's more manageable to use the 1/2 gallon size containers, just have 3 or 4 of them. Bigger mesh bag will still work. Depends on size of pogies. Never counted I guess. The sludge and oil will draw them in theoretically.
