this is my newest pattern a friend of mine made but i copied for a good cause.hahahaha.
you're going to tie a very small piece of estaz, [ is like pearl chenille but the fibers are a little longer ] on the bottom of the shank.,tie the back run the thread foward,not over the estaz. use very little thread when you tie it.then tie 4 strands of flash then your bucktail,or craft fur. i tied some of each. very cool fly. if you like you can add some lead thread on the shank.
yesterday i was at the wethersfield cove in ct and i hooked on a big pike on this fly,i just went to test it on how it looks like. is very effective.

Saw some Albies yesterday, didn't hook up...but small pods off RI coast.
Those flies, Surfflyfish might have done the trick, we had to rerig, leaders and flies...and by that time-poof they were gone, cb

The water is VERY warm out there all of a sudden but I agree, definitely early.

Could be bones although it wasn't too long ago there a major skipjack tuna invasion in early July. There's been scattered small bluefin (and a few giants) creeping around very close to shore in the past few weeks as well.

i called great friend of mine Brian from north cove outfitters in old saybrook,and he said they are around,he did mentioned a warm water pocket was pushed by a hurricane and the skips,albies,bonito and bluefin followed it because it was full of an incredible amount food. but he said becareful because when they feel the water sttling again they tend to leave.
samething happened 3-4 years ago early july,200+ pound tuna right on the shore at casting distance,and people where hooking but loosing all the line and lures. :sled:

Was at that spot Sat am at the last 3hrs of the drop - n/a. Went to N shoal and across to N rip. Only a few small blue fish to show for the gas. However on the upside def ID on em last week outside the other bway to the west but long enough to strip out enough line for a shot, but def fast movers.
