Kudos to you guys at Alltackle.com

I purchased a couple of rigged Boone 12" birds from them last week. The day after I received them, I went tuna fishing, and ran the birds in front of squid bars. As soon as the second bird was set out, it came undone (along with the squid bar) and sank into the deep blue. :crying: After reeling in the line, the 200lb swivel was still closed, so I assume that whoever rigged that particular bird forgot to crimp the sleeve.

When I called Keith at Alltackle, I expected him to say "that's too bad" (after all, he had no proof of what happened other than my word). Instead, he said he would mail me out a new bird. It's great to deal with companies like that, and I will certainly buy all my offshore tackle from them in the future.

Gotta love great customer service...:kewl:

You had the bird in front of the squid bar, correct ???
So he sent you another $20 bird, but you are out a $100-$150 squid rig ???:hidin:

That's what I was thinking too, Ronnie.......

That's all very true, but my point is, they really didn't have to send me anything. It's fishing, and gear gets broken off and lost all the time, and I really don't have any firm proof that it was a faulty crimp...that's just what I assume happened.

Anyway, its not so much the money aspect (most of us burn a couple tuna bars worth of fuel on each run anyway)...its more that they just took my word for it and sent me a new one.

Thats terrible service. A 10$ bird is sent after a factory flaw causes you to lose an entire rig. I'd call back and ask for a brand new set-up. If they sent you a new one complete, that would be great customer service. Secondly, IF that rig was to let go when you were on a "trophy" fish would would have been pissed/heart broken. Buyer Beware.
