Trying some new types of joints on a few plugs outside of the traditional "cut in half" type of joint! This is a "Prey" swimmer I am working on!:kewl: Looks cool.....can't wait to swim it!

This is a "Prey" swimmer I am working on!:kewl: Looks cool.....can't wait to swim it! Mr. Krinkle 01-04-2009, 06:50 PM Love the originality in that! I was thinking of prototyping something along those lines. BigFish 01-04-2009, 06:52 PM Not that its original as I have seen similar.....but I have not done any like this! I am hoping the water pushing into the joint as it swims adds to the action?? Mr. Krinkle 01-04-2009, 06:54 PM I think it will have a nice sexy wiggle. I've seen poppers like that (I think they are called Knucklhead poppers) but not metal lips. Raven 01-04-2009, 07:04 PM i would think the water in the joint would cushion the wiggle a little bit since its denser than air is.... but yeah...it'll make it a little tighter ie awesome would be cool to have a filmography of it in a tank that had artificial current like those custom swimming pools do. Lower 01-04-2009, 07:21 PM Looks awesome Larry. It also seems that cutting them that way makes thru wiring possible. When cut in the other direction the wrap has to be at the nose, which doesn't look as nice. Can't wait to hear how it swims! ProfessorM 01-04-2009, 07:42 PM like it . I have something with a similar joint from Rockfish, Joe. Looks neat and I don't think you will get that exaggerated wiggle that I don't really like with a lot of jointed plugs, toned down a bit maybe. Mr. Sandman 01-04-2009, 07:53 PM That V notch I have seen in several FW swim baits. There are some clever hinges in some of them but I have not really fished them. The one I have that been playing with swims great esp at higher speed retrieves..I think in a rip this would be awesome. The wood one is a recessed one I have been tweaking, I like the "hidden" nature of the joint. Backbeach Jake 01-04-2009, 07:53 PM Looks nice, try reversing the cut, the "y' in front for streamlining. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
